    RS2 Turbo questions

    Hi guys

I have never really looked into this to much until now so sorry for all the stupid questions that are likely to come in advance.

If I were to fit an RS2 turbo into my S2 (ABY) would it in theory bolt straight on to the S2 manifold? (Not that thats what I would be doing) Also would it work with a generic Ebay stainless manifold like the Fidanza(?) one that sold on here a few days ago fairly easily? http://www.s2forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=67606

Also with regards to oil and waterlines, would the RS2 turbo work with the existing lines that are on the S2 (ABY)?

Im trying to start piecing together some knowledge on this so I can start thinking of upgrades for next year.

Thanks in advance for the info and your patience and help with these silly questions.
    Chris

If you use an OE RS2 or Wagner em then it's all bolt on, same water and oil lines etc. You don't need a tubular manifold but the stock s2 manifold isn't up to the task.

If you buy everything RS2 then its a very easy conversion.

RS2 spec or RS2? I'd say a decent used RS2 turbo would go for £550 to £650. New they are silly money.

Steve, I believe it is RS2 'spec'. Was built by a specialist though.. all receipts provided.

Ah, well, if it's recently rebuilt then it'll sell for about £600-650 here in the UK but I'm sure you'll be able to sell at a premium based on rarity on the other side of the world...

Cheers Rusty. So if using an RS2 turbo, everything is bolt on essentially. If I look for an Ebay manifold, what flange should I be looking for it to have to fit the turbo to? I understand the S2 manifold not being up to the job hence the manifold questions. I wont be able to stretch to a Wagner one either unfortunately

If you go tubular your d/pipe won't fit, go rs2 manifold, why would you want to fit one of those cheapo chinese efforts anyway?

                        agreed.

stay away from cheap chinese stainless manifolds, they are more hassle than they are worth.

even if it's cheap, you'll end up welding it many times, the pain of pulling it out etc.

there is an RS2 manifold for sale in the parts section, save your self $$ and hassle and buy it.

Ahh, I get the tubular bit now and understand the issues with cheapo manifolds. I will possibly be wanting to change to a larger downpipe anyway but will see when I get to doing this. If I had the spare £300 then I would be going for the RS2 manifold available but I dont have that atm so will look at what is round when I get to looking for the next part. What flange/ mount is needed for the RS2 turbo? Is it a T3 flange or am I getting my wires crosssed with flange fittings and names? (Im really not techy when it comes to this sort of info lol) I apprciate all the advice so far.

RS2 turbo is a K2X flange.. Same as your stock turbo.

If you're going to the trouble of upgrading and want it to be hassle free, I'd go RS2 hybrid from Iroz or k26/27. Both have the same flange and have good spool and power. They are also cheap to have rebuilt unlike some of the newer BB turbos.
