stay away from cheap chinese stainless manifolds, they are more hassle than they are worth.
even if it's cheap, you'll end up welding it many times, the pain of pulling it out etc.
there is an RS2 manifold for sale in the parts section, save your self $$ and hassle and buy it.
Don't go near those cheap eBay EM's, their not a straight fit and will crack pretty dam quick.
The center section of the RS2 turbo is very similar to the standard K24 so as long as you don't shift the turbo's position with one of those shoddy manifolds and use either an RS2 or Wagner item everything fits as with the K24.
A 3" down pipe would be a good idea, the standard RS2 DP is 2.75" whilst the original S2 item is 2.5".

STR 'log' manifold is a cheap option but will limit attainable power. RS2 is pretty good, Wagner is best. Avoid pretty much anything else. Do it right first time as it'll just cost you more in the long run if you get something that breaks and needs replacing.

My thoughts on RS2 EM's - unless it's got no cracks or is near new just get the Wagner. I have had 2 RS2 EM's that were "good" meaning they were not blowing on the car they were removed from. However once removed and put on a new car the stresses had them leaking within months.
With the Wagner, just read up about potential fitting issues and be prepared - nothing that would put me off using one again just - the flexi hose to the downpipe took a fair bit of 'persuasion' and everything is a bit tighter as it's larger.
What's the advantage / difference between a standard RS2 turbo and a hybrid one ?
Thanks for any relies.
HTH the op.
That standard RS2 turbo is still a great mid-range unit but it's hard to find a new one (and expensive), and it's based on 80s technology. There are hybrid units out there using billet wheels and more advanced aero allowing it to be more efficient and thus make more power.
For example, my K26/7 hybrid has a slightly more progressive boost curve (it starts making +ve boost about the same revs but peak boost slightly later) and holds about 1.6/1.7bar at the redline, giving about +50hp at the top end. The hybrid that Lloyd had fitted (based on the RS2) had slightly earlier spool and +30hp at the top end.
I bought a brand new RS2 turbo a couple of years ago and have done around 10k miles on it. Has been great, but would like more power (especially top end). Any advice on getting it modified (billet etc), estimated power gains etc?

Is there anyone who does a similar modification in the UK? I love the look of the Iroz billet, but would prefer to avoid shipping/customs charges if I could get a hybrid of equal quality over here?
