A bad buyer on Motorgeek. Lookout!

Here is a little story about a con artist who bought a rear differential from me this week. I thought people should hear my side of this lying jerk first.

Back in June a fellow posted a wanted ad on Motorgeek requesting the need of a Coupe rear dif. I had one in my fully running S2 converted coupe with around 123K miles. I drive the car everyday and the car performs wonderfully. Anyhow, I have another diff with less miles that I have been restoring to factory new for my car. Fresh paint job, new seals etc. Easy to do on the bench at my leisure while still keeping my S2 running for the summer. So, I contact this guy and offer him my Diff from my RUNNING CAR for $150 shipped. I do not hear back from him till September 11th asking me if the diff is still available and would like to buy it now. I having not finished my restoration job on the extra diff saw this as a great opportunity to get it completed and best of all SELL the diff from my car. The deal is struck, diff is paid for. All is good. I drive home from work in my S2, put her up on jacks and remove the diff. Empty the oil for shipping purposes. Box it up and ship it FEDEX. Keep in mind I literally JUST DROVE MY CAR THAT I REMOVED THE DIFF I SOLD and SHIPPED. I KNOW IT WORKS!!!! IT WORKS PERFECTLY.

The diff was delivered TUESDAY Sept 24th at 1210 pm. Today this was received at 11:22 AM WEDNESDAY September 25, verbatim.......

so.. what you sent is NOT what i expected. In our exchanges prior to sending you payment for the differential you described it as "very nice. low miles and clean" this is definitely not the case. Last night i installed the diff in car my car and much to my surprise it was exactly the same if not worse than the blown differential that was already in my coupe. In my opinion it was not represented accurately at all. I would appreciate it if I was fully refunded the $150 I payed for this defective differential. I am certain this was installed properly and anything pertaining to that is not the case as it was installed by my father who is an ASE certified master technician with 35+ years of experience under his belt.

THIS GUY IS A LIAR!!!! So full of BS it is sickening for my eyes to read this crap about this diff.

One now must ask these questions.....

If he was not happy about the diff from the minute he saw it WHY ON EARTH WOULD HE INSTALL IT!!!????

If he installed it LAST NIGHT and it was found to be bad (which it was not). Why did he wait till the NEXT day to complain about it??? I don't know about you, but I surely would have been writing an email IMMEDIATLEY to the seller. Like 1 freaking minute after finding a problem.

How many rear diffs go bad on Coupes? Not many. They are damn dear bullet proof. Able to handle over 1000 HP. Anyone see the CROW1 Coupe Quattro turbo dragster on Youtube???

I think the genius did not put any oil in it. Drove it without oil on the way to work this morning and burned it up. Now wants me to take the wrap.

    Thoughts anyone?

how has he come to the conclusion that your diff is in terrible condition.

Did he fill it with oil before driving?

It was dirty! It had road dust and film on it! I guess he wanted it power washed and dipped to factory new appearance. If the diff has dirt on it it must be in bad condition. Right???

He claims he DID put .8 qts of Royal Purple diff fluid in it.

I think he has other problems with his coupes drive train.

Errr yeh, tell him to f u c k off.

So what it was dirty.. that's got nothing to do with what's inside.

I'd say he's installed it, not filled it and gone for a drive.

IMO, if you have other members that can vouch for you in this forum, its on him.

I don't really want to tell him to F off, because it make me look bad. I want to work this out with him. It is hard when I know I was in the right.

I have no time for liars.

What are you going to work out?

You either refund him and you lose a perfectly workig diff, or you don't .

You could do a partial refund and then this liar gets free money and possibly a good diff.

              Its you vs him..

Can someone go look at the diff for you, someone close by?

There is just so many variables.

VARIA, what did iancq do to get u annoyed?

I find it stange that he claims my diff is doing the exact same problem as his original. Sounds like he has other problems or doesnt have clue to what he us doing. However, it is not a very hard to install a rear did. More of a pain than anything.

I'd tell the other guy to take a walk.

I think that kid's behavior tells you everything.

When he was after a few parts, he sent me a pms, cos he it was important to him.
I told him the price, he started a ridiculous negotiation (we are talking about a few dollars here) and then on the shipping too. Of course he disappeared after agreeing on the deal. He did try to pull this later with other parts, like the rear diff. This means to me that he is not trustworthy.

If you check his topics he started, does he sound like a young wrench-er guy whos father an ASE certified master technician with 35+ years of experience under his belt?

can you run 7a without ISV

This means to me that he is not telling the truth

Or he doesnt know what he wants:

how far can you go with a 7a? 10,000rpm N/A?

This means to me that he is just a kid, jumping between thoughts.

Based on these, i made my conclusion Im better off without doing any business with him. Sorry to hear that you are having problem with him, but I wouldnt take the diff back.
