    Outdoor car cover

Thinking of getting one for the winter, any ideas on the best types and places to buy?

been thinking about this too got a 2nd car now and no garage so she needs winter protection also

found this, lists about 10 all different prices from £170-£800

wonder if they do discount for group buys? cause we want 3 up to now

Enter your registration number or select your vehicle from the drop-down menu to display covers specifically for your car. Call 01474 360 360 for expert advice.

A mate runs a classic car company and he hates the things for outdoor use as they hold moisture in and i have seen them use dirt under the cover to act as cutting compound.

the ones i looked at are not 100% water proof you can`t get both as waterproof ones won`t breathe as there will be a plastic/rubber layer in the material
have a look at the linky above

                car cover

I used one of these for four years - just made a hole in the top for an aerial, and it let out any moisture - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/like/36053...f13=80&ff14=83

from silverline, part no 220393 - only 13.44 on ebay at min - medium cover came right down under front and back bumpers with the elastic - kept the sun from discolouring the red paint as well during the summer.

                Hope this helps

Agree with monkey. The expensive fluff lined ones are good for long term indoor use in order to keep dust and other undesirables off the paintwork but in terms of outdoor use, you are probably better off just leaving it be and ensuring it is used in the dry (at speed he he) to blow the cobwebs out.

If you really want it kept in good order, rent a garage somewhere. I was considering this as my circumstances might be changing soon and I may well lose the garage it is currently kept in. There are some going for £8 per week around where I live. Seems reasonable enough but I worry that it is a slightly grotty area, not well lit and out of sight of my house. S2 owners are a funny bunch who worry too much about their aged cars (me included)

I have used a waterproof cover for the last 15 years. Originally bought from a UK based company Coversystems. Covers have been replaced every 3/4 years, and are very effective. Obviously best thing is under cover in a garage, but I have found the cover very good. Like most things, "you pays your money"!
I am due a replacement this year, and I have found this U.S.A. company covercraft.com. I have no connection and have not yet bought from them. They have various types avaialble both for indoor and outdoor use, with warranties up to 5 years, but not sure if they would honour overseas? Following my enquiry to them, they responded "We do not have a pattern for the S2 coupe, we would need you to complete a dimension sheet on tha tone if you wanted to order."
Their prices for a cover for a Pontaic Transam range from £179.97 up to £464.83. They say that these prices include shipping VAT and Duty (and include "cable, lock and storage bag too!). JMTPW
