guessing you have got a 4 spoke airbag wheel? if so you can put a 3 spoke one on from a 80 saloon, estate, coupe, cabriolet

Use a spline adapter with your 98 steering wheel. It is used on VW GOLF Mk3 starting with 1992. Search the forum and you will find the part number .
        Audi S4 2.2T 5 spd 1992 for parts
        AUDI A4 1.9TDI daily use

Audi 80 Quattro 2.0 16V (ACE) aka Competition

that's interesting to know, ive got a 3 spoke wheel from a 95-96 coupe and got a 3 spoke from a R reg 98 (I think) cabriolet. Not removed the cabby one but when I do I will look at the differences.

When you say S line they never made the 80 cabriolet as an S line, just final editions/

Spline adapter is not needed if you are adapting a 1995 or newer steering wheel for the later three spoke---->1998. I have a 1998 three spoke wheel on my 1995 80 Estate (built in Nov 1994) and no modification was required.

3 spoke airbag one will bolt on, I fitted a late model cabrio one to my dagdag and it fit like a glove. Only caveat, if your original car has no airbag, the airbag one won't fit as there is a plate involved, in theory, this applies to retro B3 applications, all B4's should go straight on :-)

                steering wheel for a 96 B4 Cabriolet

                Hiya Guys

yes never a cabriolet in S line, thought it would be nice although, its true not accurate..

Its the different plug set up between the 96 Car and 98 S wheel, thats the main problem..No doubt its do able to adapt but behond my skill methinks Is there a plug converter that I could fit? ....Or even better an Air bag S Wheel that would be better than the 98 S line one that I got?

                Cheers Chaps..

                      Steering Wheel B4 upgrade optionz

                      Thanks for that URS4Boy,

that looks the part indeed, similar to the one I purchased except for the centre ring..In the smaller windows screen shot it hightlights A4 etc that doesnt refer to the part you highlighted for me does it? I believe the 96 manufactured B4 Cabbys differ from later..am I on the right track?

                      thanks again

No it's not. That is the PN for an airbag. Two separate parts, steering wheel and airbag.

                            steering wheel

Ok thanks for that UrS4Boy, I get it now..Is the St wheel part number you highlighted the same as your st wheel in your photo? Is there a difference between cabbys manufactured between 96 and later with regard to St wheel plug system or are they all the same? cheers

I understand the changes to the spline size were made in 1998. I could be wrong.
