Seems like there is a letter missing after the 091 above. As for sources of steering wheels, look at my list. Early 4A and A8 sport wheels work, as would an UrS6 sport wheel. Make sure you get a proper airbag with the steering wheel, not a hollow shell.

4B0419091E has been replaced by 4B0419091G which is

          a) the same fitment as 091E but the badge is now a separate part, e.g. 4A0419685B

          b) available in colours = not the one you are looking for, i.e. too new, won't fit, so 091E probably won't fit either (spline hole is wrong size)

I installed C5 S-line steering wheel to my 92. B4. I believe that late D2 and B5 model have the same one. Before I had 3-spoke UrS4 steering wheel without airbag. It wasn't a straight swap, because I had to change wiper and light switches and get replacements from A6 C4/pre-fl A4 B5, then I had to buy steering wheel adapter because otherwise it wouldn't fit and finally I had to install C5 slip ring for horn. I like it

                  Hello,

                  That looks stunning

I have just come across this thread and i am very interested in what you have achieved.I want to acheive the look you have on my car as it just brings the B4 80 just that little bit more up date like the final edition 80 cabriolets. I have this same spare C5 S-line wheel might be B5 S-line wheel and want to fit it into my airbaged late 94 v6 80 avant.
Personally i like the urs4 wheel early s2 wheel (as have used the wheel for years)and have a one but its no good for my late model 1994 80 airbaged v6 avant.I have been wondering if this wheel would fit my car and what would be needed.Reason why i bought one just in case it was possible.I do know that its never straight forward changing wheels around the reason why i am excited about what you have achieved.I would like to hear from you in more detail about the switches and what was involved.I take it that the switches fitted into the steering shroud well? And what steering wheel adapter did you need to buy? Stunning like it a lot.
Please get in touch about this.
                  Kind regards Mark.

Sorry for the long wait. Here is some information about conversion.

Before I had switches, which centre hole was smaller. Usually 1994 cars have switches with larger hole in the centre, so you hopefully don't have to swap them. If you can send the picture of steering column plastics then I can tell you which type it is.

To fit newer switches I used plastic ring from old switches, which I cut off and put inside of large hole. It is enough for fastening newer switches to steering column correctly. But there is one more thing to do, because the pinout between those two switches is different and further more some pins have different size. It takes some time to redo wiring back there, but it's nothing impossible.

Steering wheel adapter is from VW Golf 3 or 90s Jetta. G3 fits right away. I personally used Jetta's adapter and I had to cut of 1-2 cm of it. Used adapters are cheap and they cost around 3-5 euros. They are also available as new part, but in my opinion 20 euros is way too much for a piece of metal.

The hardest part is to make C5 airbag cable fit B4 steering column plastics and switches. I had to cut off a bit of plastic, also had to drill some holes, but at the end of the day it fit perfectly. Later on when I have time I can take a picture for you.

Finally you have to do wiring for slipring (airbag cable). I don't remeber the exact pinout for it, but pins 4-5 are for horn. 2-3 are for airbag and 1 is empty. I only used 4-5 because my 1992 model doesn't have any airbags at all.

Hopefully that information is helpful and if you have and questions don't hesitate to ask.

Thanks for your reply it's much appreciated.Reference above if you could take pictures for me i would really appreciate that as i don't want to mess up.I haven't done anyhting like this the main reason why i think these mods are brill apart from the fact its looks superb ,but also because someone had the patience to work it out.I recon you must know a thing or two about auto electrics, again something i am useless at apart from the obvious plug and play.

I have the steering wheel,my switches should have larger hole as its a oct 94 car.So all i need is a G3 wheel adapter (is that a Golf 3 adapter) is that anything to do with the spline or not. Will my stalks and the shroud be in the same originl posiition or not? Thanks in advance for your help cheers.
