Coupe to S2 -- also huge project racing / street legal insanity car!!!

Hello peeps, Im going to build a project S2!! Yey!! after all these years finally!!
My aim is to have a touring car look. Make big power in long run with smoothest delivery an earliest delivery I can, re-distibute weight to balance the vehicle better, remove weight extensively, turn it almot racing, but keep it street legal. Make it handle super well, perhaps a diff to split power 60/40 or 70/30.

I'm curious, How closely matched is the coupe model to the s2?
If I'm building from the ground up, would this be a viable option and what are the differences?

Any help / advice would be gladely appreciated

B4 quattro saloon is the best starting point for this kind of project IMHO

      Hey, for what reasons?

I'm also trying to find out how easy or hard it is to convert a coupe to s2 and more. If there is a huge difference, then ill start with an s2 shell.

From experience, there is not much substantial difference between a coupe quattro & S2, and almost everything is plug & play, but there are many small differences and it is definitely cheaper to start with an S2.

B4 saloon is the best starting point IMHO due to a stiffer shell and superior multi-link rear suspension

Is the running gear and suspension the same? Whats different? You see some coupes are good prices. What about a standard coupe also?

Well, i am litterally going to create an s2 racer being striped out. S2s are rare.. ive seen a coupe for ÂŁ500 in fav colour. Metallic blue, it would be more cost effect to get this as base rather than paying 3k for an s2 right?
So i need to know if a conversion will be out of the question or not .. so i need to the different between a standard audi coupe compared to a s2

It will be far cheaper to start off with a rough S2 as you will have everything you need. Compared to an coupe quattro almost everything is different on the S2, but then again, almost everything is bolt on. It is a false economy to start with a cq though, believe me.

You can start with a non S2 Coupe, but it really needs to be a quattro otherwise you'll be in for a load of hassle. The B3 Saloon has the same running gear and suspension as Coupe quattros, the B4 Saloon has the same rear suspension as the S2 Avant which is vastly superior to the B3 rear set up being double wishbone.

As Alex the B4 Saloon make a better starting point for a track car, in fact they both do. The B3 has a rear bulkhead which helps no end with rigidity but it still has the inferior rear suspension. The B4 shell is a better more modern design so it's less bendy than a Coupe even without a rear bulkhead and benefits from better suspension.

I also agree that your almost certainly better off starting with an S2, could even be a Cat C or D if you stripping and caging it etc. You may as well buy a complete S2 Coupe whatever route you take as you'll need a lot of parts from it.

4-pot non quattro, if you don't fancy a project that will ever be finished buy that car to convert to S2 spec

quattro style, when im finishe it wont be a 4 pot -- itll be 600 plus -- maybe 700- 800 hp, weighing as less as possible roll cage -- weight centralized. understeer removed, even a little oversteer encouraged, wide body - wide arches beautiful machine looknig like a touring car with insane spoiler at back -- all metallic blue - huge red brakes, White wheels -- possibly compomotive.
I'm also half german and an artist so attention to detail will be there -- bascially a fun toy to play with and enjoy building. My friend is bmw man , with his 330 ci stripped .. he is going to super charge his beyond an m3 spec.

Its gonna be a fun ride and something ive always wanted to do. except money and time have been against me --- cars = a very expensive hobby and you need money to alloy you to do these things.
