Is everyting else sorted on the car before you plough 'one way money' on paint into it ?

Plenty of C4 A6 doors around, especially on ebay.de

    What colour do you need?

Also if you only want to do this once I would consider a pair of brand new primered wings what you lose in upfront cost you will save in reduced prep and rustproofing. Don't buy a pair of A6 wings by accident though...

Thanks for all the help again guys...

Re the detailing, I have had many a suggestion re detailing, but I don't see how detailing is going to rectify:

      Rust
      Dents
      Crazed Laquer
      and scratches

I have S6 wings waiting, second hand ones in good condition, but wrong colour.

Door skin, is an A6 one in the same colour (in theory) Volcano Black BTW...

If you want a proper and accurate quite from QCW i'd recommend speaking to Ish and then making the effort to take the car up for him to look at.

I don't imagine he could accurately quote until he's seen how much work is involved because his mandate is absolute perfection.

            Hi

I have agreed a respray to commence early January with a local company I have used before with good results.

I think he will do a good job of the car as he does show cars etc, but will post up the results here when it is done.

I am looking to replace the lower door rubbers (external) see my other recent thread about this.

Anything else I should be looking to do whilst car is getting resprayed?

Glass will be coming out, roof rails and black window surrounds will be resprayed also...

Colour will be original volcano balck

I have new lights, and front grills all of them and the front and rear lower bumper valances all new to be replaced at the same time.

When I got my car resprayed, I got new badges as well as all the door trims, roof trims, front and rear wing trims, grills and lights.

Car is now running, there was some sort of coil problem that fried part of the wiring, it has been fixed and is running...

There are other problems of course, a sticking rear caliper is the next thing, something the mechanic pointed out when fixing the wiring but didn't fix lol...

Looking forward to the end result, in a good way.

Well done on keeping it the oem colour.

Should you be considering if you want to have the lower black plastic sections of the front and rear bumpers and sills colour coded. Not critical either way when your car is black.

Look up the 12v org web site re all of the photos of the URS4/6 wheels, as apart from the wheels you can also see loads of C4 photos, including black cars for ideas and comparisons with your own car.

As it's the primary toy / car just invest in either new original calipers, or use new or good second hand bits to make up the 300mm rear brake kit using the 300mm discs with corresponding rear callipers. Expensive, but worth is. My S2 has a heck of a handbrake now.

Someone else will be able to advise which later B? S / RS model car they come from. 6 or 7 ?

I will be keeping the valances black, not only because the car is black, but it wont show if a stone hits it!!!!

Also, am keeping the original wheels, but then they are the 17" plus wheels, so they are perfect I think, right size, wide tyres, easy to clean, what's not to like

They are going to be refurbed

Would be interested if there are any bolt on no modification brake options other than standard, probably going to get refurbed calipers for the rear, I have discs and pads which are new and get it all done together. Fronts are okay for now, but I will be needing a speed sensor or two at some point

Forgot about that, a good half way house.

Regarding the ABS wheel sensors in the hubs, these frequently can be hard to get out without breaking them, if no copper grease was used.

The copper sleeve inserts and the ABS sensors are expensive from the Dealer, I recall S2WOT telling me that articulated truck trailers use these two items, and they are very inexpensive from a truck trailer parts supplier.

Haven't yet needed to check this out yet, but if someone else does, they might post how they got on, and if this avenue a less expensive, but as good as oem, source of these two parts ?

                          HTH.

The copper sleeve is a Wabco part, same as the ABS sensor.
