Please Sponsor me for Prostate Cancer UK

    Hi peeps,

As men (in the main I guess) and as petrol heads, I am appealing to you in order to help Prostate Cancer UK in their battle against an indiscriminate cancer that can affect any of us at any time, be it directly or indirectly through people we know...

My Brother and I will be taking part in the 2014 Grand Prix Crumball Rally. We have covered all costs already ourselves, accommodation, ferries, rally entry and of course, when the time comes tolls and petrol, etc...

All I want to ask you guys to do is donate where possible, whatever you can to help Prostate Cancer UK keep the research going and making lives better.

I am going to be tackling corporate sponsorship soon through companies I know, so hopefully we can get some serious traction, but in any case, even the smallest donation helps.

Mods, if you can make this a sticky I would be very grateful.

With regards to the Rally itself, we will be doing it in my Audi Cabriolet on the 8th-10th May 2014 - I will keep you up to date on how fundraising goes and also provide updates as we get closer to the Rally itself with car related stuff.

    Dig deep fellas!

Not been too strong yet, but not pushed it too hard as its 4+ months away, but I am going to be tackling corporate sponsorship soon, so hopefully we can make some big inroads into this. One of my friend's father has recently been diagnosed with it, such a nice guy, as is usually the case, thoroughly underserving of such a nasty thing, but he's undergoing radio therapy and treatment at the moment and things are looking quite positive.

Hopefully one day Cancer will be a thing of the past. They can now control HIV so that shows how much progress has been made on a terrible disease that was originally thought to be untreatable.

Sorry for your loss mate, I lost my dad at 21, not to this but loss is loss

Definately!! loss is loss and still difficult. Cancer strikes where we least expect it to and suddenly. Sorry about your mate i have been there too loosing a mates dad who was one of the most funniest kindest people you ever met.

My dad was 64 when he lost his battle with prostate cancer nearly 6 years ago.The NHS were brilliant. My dad suffered for a few years with it.Never got to draw his pension.RIP Dad

10 months ago lost a well known London artist friend laterly a fishing artist of Ringwood hampshire "John Searl" aged 64 to stomach cancer.Diagnosed 3 days before christmas 2012 and told he had 3 weeks to live. With his chemo he got to see march 2013.I took it for granted he would be with us for years but alas.Very sad loss.

I would have thought with all the money swashing around with the members on here that the response would have been better.Lets hope they read this and donate.Prostate cancer is serious issue for men as breast cancer is for women yet the funding for men into research lags way way way behind womens breats cancer research.

Keep up the good work mate!!

I agree, its still viewed as a taboo thing, I think all men above 50 should get their PSA levels checked, I know I will.

Cancer scares the crap out of me, seeing it as something on Breaking Bad that can be pushed aside is one thing, the reality is far more grim!

like I said, one day I hope it will be a lot easier to conquer medically

Excellent cause and a great excuse to drive around Europe. Reckon it will be better in your motor than a £200 banger but both would be fun.

I've added to your fund and will double my donation if Greg removes the worlds most annoying avatar from his profile until you guys complete your rally on May 10th.

Cmon guys, if everyone gives a fiver or so, it helps not just to top up a research pot but also raise awareness of an ahole of a disease. It is something that is likely to affect many of us on here. 1 in 8 will develop this, not to mention other forms of cancer that will get us or has ravaged people we already know.

                        Good luck with it all.
