Cheers bowie a forum member has some like these but for some reason are not the same as mine there are no letters in my code and only four pronhs on the back..
Whilst were on the electrical topic in my car the electric window switch lights are on constantly even when the car is locked is this correct seems like a constant battery drain to me..and does anyone nkow if there are any central locking divices avalible which use a key fob to open and lock the doors?
Those lights in the window switches should go out after engine off AND when drivers door is open… check that the door switch wiring is good… turn your interior/courtesy light to the 'door' position and see if it stays on all the time - that will confirm the door switch wiring is at fault.
Let me know what year the car is and I presume it has central locking that is activated by drivers door so I can look at the wiring.
Well maybe it has changed over the years, but my 94-ABY definitely turns those lights out when you open the drivers door… There is probably a timer as well that turns them out N minutes after shutdown if the door is still closed but I have not gone looking for that !
Just checked the ones on my 1990 3B as I couldn't remember exactly what they did, after turning off the ignition they stay on when opening and whilst the door is open but go off upon closing it. As you say there is probably a variation between the early and late models and there must be some sort of timer somewhere.
