Yep defiantly one of the best noises an engine can make. Old school engines sound the best . I've been checking out some of the u tube clips of this years f1 cars from the first test in Spain and they ain't nothing to shout about . A brm v16 from the 1950s is a much more pleasing sound

TOO TRUE. The seventies produced some of the best sounds around when all were carbs.V8 Triumph Stag Triumph Gt6 Mk3 straight six twin or tripple carbs.E type 5.3 v12 on quad carbs.Tr6,RS2000,S All great sounds.Then the quattro came along and re wrote the rules

The Merlin HHMMMM. And they fly right over my house every summer as i am fairly close to Northolt Airodrome. We get Lancasters the lot over here when there is some fly past going on in London. Used to get Concorde righ above but sadly no more
