    Pressed plates!

Right so I've had a bit of bother again with my plastic reflective pressed plates with the bs code and post code of supplier present.

I've been stopped in the past and the plod have said they're fine, they're plastic, reflective and have all the markings... And then I come across officer P Rick from the dog section...

He sees all the markings and says 'you can get counterfeit notes too'
Along with ' I think they're illegal, I think they're not reflective' (they were slightly dirty)
And my plates are supposedly German style when they're not.

I've no intention of changing my plates...
Have I got a leg to stand on in court?

Have we got any coppers on board?

    Cheers

AFAIK if they are reflective, the characters are the right size & spacing it is legal. I'm sure the MOT rules have the specifics

I personally think the officer was voicing his OPINION rather than looking at the facts. Which is why I wanted to challenge it but I want to be sure I'm not wasting my time taking it to court.

Mate, I work for the dark side on the pointy end. I am a firearms and traffic officer .... Yawn.... as long as it looks right, displays the post code of the manufacture and is stamped with the correct code, BSA 145 D from memory it means it conforms to the majority of traffic law. Halfords for example can only sell legal plates. So anything from them will be fine. There is also a number of companies on the net that sell uk legal pressed metal plates that also conform to regs.

If someone wanted to be picky the legislation goes in to detail about letter size, width, height, angle and even space between each letter and the space between the edge of the letters and the edge of the plate. There are always a few with the wrong attitude and the same that don't know the law and don't want to appear unsure. Personally if they are about right and the driver has a good attitude, that more than enough for me. But I could always be the exception

        Hope that helps

Put a picture up and I will give you am honest opinion about them

So at the end of the day, if you don't want any bother from the police. fit standard number plates and things will be ok...
