Wrong bonnet cable grommet

Having brought the wrong size bonnet cable grommet off the forum here (my fault, I didn't measure the size) I decided to speak to Audi Milton Keynes on Monday to get them to order the larger 30mm one. According them part number 893 823 591A this should be the 30mm one but it's too small and doesn't fit.

I told the bloke on the phone that I thought the larger one should end with a B, can anyone confirm this please? He's helpfully ordered it to see what it looks like, lets just hope it is the larger one when it turns up and the rain holds off......

Don't know why 893823591A wouldn't fit. It has been used on Audis as far back as 1977 A100 to the 1999 A4 and everything in between. It is listed as a 28/4 mm grommet.

It all becomes clear, they've given me the part ending in B which I'm guessing is the smaller of the 2. Let's see whIch one they present me with tomorrow!!!

A photo of the "B" part showing the item and the PN would be helpful. My friend Kates says she does not have a 893823591B in her system.

Brilliant! Perhaps I could keep the grommet & exchange the coupe for an R8!

That is hilarious. Wot? Is there a difference in the part when the vehicle pre-fix (i.e. the 893 versus the 1K0) is different?

A lot. Entirely different cars.

That said, it is interesting to note the consistency of the main group (8 = body) and subgroup (23 = front hood (bonnet)) codes and the "grommetness" (the 591) stayed the same.

Tell him you need an 893823591A.

The bad news is he is going to tell you "Sorry mate, its NLA".

That R8 grommet is £1.50+vat but the coupe one although apparently not NLA, is £13+vat

Well, it's on a 5 day back order apparently so lets all have a group pray it doesn't rain in the next few days!!! I pointed out the cars it would actually fit, the response was 'Oh really, I didn't know'

Finally got the call from Audi yesterday so ended up £17.50 lighter!! Fitted the grommet this morning. In true fashion I have no skin left on my knuckles due to the wiper link & the heavens opened but it's in.
