    Miltek exhaust boomy! Advice needed.

My resonated Miltek exhaust on my b5 RS4 was far too boomy. I have opened up the silencers and found some of the wadding missing hence the noise.

I have bought new wadding and repacked both silencers. The exhaust is now less boomy but still too loud.

Are exhausts quieter the larger the silencer gets? or can something else be done to reduce the noise. Its great on full chat but not so good in town.

    Thanks, Dan.

The trick is to tame the resonance. Extra supports and a change in section towards the end makes a lot of difference with little to no loss in performance.

Had a similar issue recently. Silencers need to be as big as they can fit but also technology needs to be up to scratch. Don't know where you are located but the only shop for me that could do the job is AAS in Newcastle.

Try Googleing 'Branch resonator' it's like a dead end silencer that comes off the main pipework at 90°. Supposed to be good at removing drone

Oh, and sorry but your flange is still not done

Must be something else bud. I have a resonated Jetex cat back on my B5 RS4 and it's not noisey at all in comparison to what I have just sold, a R32 with Jetex cat back or s2 with a Miltek cat back. Sounds very OE to be honest.
