Right, our 2006 Octavia with 1.9 TDI (engine code BKC I believe) has a non starting issue.
When you unlock the car using the factory remote control on the key doors will open and the headlights will be switched on as they always do (I would really want only the parking lights to be switched on but that's another story). So I assume there is enough power, but when you turn the key in the ignition lock the odometer has been reset to '0' and the radio shows the 'code' screen but will operate normally without the use of the code. That made me think there is a power related issue. When trying to start the car it won't turn on the starter motor. Using another car to jump start the Skoda all is fine.
This was yesterday morning, after that I went for a ride to charge the battery just to be sure. The car worked as it should the rest of the day untill the evening, my girlfriend called me to say it wouldn't start again, so jump started and off she went. It was only a 5 minute drive home and an hour later I tried to start it and it did without a jump start
One thing we noticed the last week was that every now and then the start was not as smooth as it used to/should be. When starting the car you could hear and feel it in the car, which I thought was due to the dual mass flywheel that plays up since it has been chipped.
I have not had the opportunity to use VAG COM on it yet, will ask a friend of mine tomorrow. For the sake of things I had the battery charger on all night but something tells me that is not the real issue.
Is anyone on here familiar with this?
Thanks for reading and help in advance.
