server images into VM -how?

Struggling to load up 3 server images into VMware workstation 10 (trial copy).

Any tips? not sure if it is me being a dumbass or the supporting documentation

Are the images ovfs? or a different format. Should be straight forward to import, i normally use VirtualBox most of the time

are you converting real to vm, or just want to get existing vm images working in workstation?

they dont appear to have an extension...just a group of files to denote build versions and the type is '001' through to the final one for each svr. Full filename is like this:

VM_SERV1_x64-Build_11.0.0.0.001

What size are the files? Most likely in 2 or 4GB chunks for the VMDK files and should be a smaller file with the config parameters

they are to run a demo image...

My memory is a bit hazy on workstation, but on vmware server, I had to create an inventory location / path, then put the images in the inventory and import them from there.
