    very quick cars,
    but they are a polo..........
    once mapped/tuned they are fun.

but they suffer with the usual suspension problems that a 1.0/1.2 suffer with if not more accelerated due to the torque

It's for the missus as a replacement for her 172... Looking around at hot hatches for £5k with reasonable economy, speed and 5 doors...

Urs4 we are talking women here. Andy correct me if your missus is a rare breed. But my wife general comment is " it's old and ugly" followed by " we know about your taste in cars" I think the Olop would be a ggood buy.

sorry, coudn't resist. it's fast, it's 5 doors, and can be relatively economical

Polo sounds like a good choice, but the ride is rather harsh imho, driving on bad surface will result in a visit to the dentist

i could think of FAR better cars with a 5k budget!

build quility is pure shopping trolley, riddled with faults chassis wise and i wouldnt dream of spending anywhere near that on one!!

                  look at/drive Lupo GTi`s, and consider A3 Quattro`s PLEASE, i beg you!

contact me with what you are looking for, actual price budget and what you BOTH like and i will ping you some ideas if you want.

but please, double think this......... they are so bland and not really worth the cop, ofcourse, in MY oppinion

I had one that I took in px. It had been modded, coilovers, remap full milltek etc. It was quick but crashy over bumps. I didn't like it and it took ages to sell

It was a polo 1.8t. 2007 I think. The gear linkage seized up as well which I think is quite common

Bit of a mixed bag then... Not doing anything for a while, as the 172 is just fine but planning ahead... Seat, Golf, A3, Megane and lots more available. Polo was interesting as it's a bit smaller and so can be parked easier.

I did notice 3.0 TDI A4s were dropping nicely in price

Something like this will probably be my next car, hopefully an A5 TDIQ. Another year or so.

For the record, I would avoid the Polo, awful ride. I have a Seat Leon TDI FR, pretty good motor but with the S2, I now have 2 cars that leak. How about one of those rapid Fabia's? I quite like them for a small everyday car. Still maybe a bit pricey though for what they are.
