Tell us more why it is right. Right for what? A proper Audi VIN starts witn WAU, not WA1 (exceptions being for the S6plus and and the RS2).

The two Audi Factory codes are "N" for Neckarsulm and "A" for Ingolstadt. "D" = bratislava which makes it sound like a Skoda.

Give us a few hints, we're not mind readers.

Hey, I'm unable to use this VIN also. Give it another look to verify it's correct and repost.

Might be a US spec car but it is a 2010 Q7 made in Bratislava (as I suggested). What the VIN gets you is shown below. If you want more info, you'd have to get it from an Audi dealer. ETKA won't get you want you want.

What do you think the emission options were? If it is a Q7 gasoline V6 made for the US won't it be fully equipped with catalytic converters and exhaust gas recirculation, no options?

Unlike Audis in other parts of the world which can be optioned in infinite combinations the US models are built with a "standard" configuration as far as emissions goes. Several years ago there were different (read stricter) emissions in California so vehicles that were sold there had different emissions systems. Nowadays all Audis are what we call "50-state" legal.

That being said, the Q7 you are thinking about buying the ECU from should be the same as all the other ones with a 3.6l engine. In the last 20 years or so Audi has gotten into the habit of changing ECUs to newer versions mid production. While some of these are still compatible and can still be used with your application even if the part number is not exactly the same. Been there, done that.

While starting off with the VIN is a good start, I would do the same thing first. I would take a harder look at the part number of the ECU as to determine the compatibility with your application.
