A5 3.0 TDI Quatty is about within your budget now. I love them. Quick, fairly good on fuel, look good, lovely inside. If you have a family and a dog, maybe not so good.
Late A4 B7 Avant S-Line.i have got one and i just love it.To me it looks great, drives fantastic and never let me down.very often im driving long distance (UK to Poland) and in this car it is just pleasure.I would like to have another one like this -Quattro 2.0 petrol Turbo ;-))
I have an 58 plate A4 2L TDI absolute super car to drive not as economical as my daily 1.9TDI but can't be the comfort mines not a quattro but it's still good I think the 2L in quattro would be a good all round car

2 weeks ago in Germany-it was keep pulling but wife start shouting at me
I am coming to the conclusion that my S2 is finally going to have to find a new home due to space restrictions and new developments in life. When I sell it, I will most likely also sell my daily and my compromise will be getting an A5 TDI Q with a nice little remap. I know I will regret the S2 sale but I have no choice.
Put your S2 into storage you will certainly regret selling and they are getting so rare these days
I know, it is an awful thought to own up to. I am regretting it just thinking about it but I must be realistic. Real shame as I have done the cambelt, aux rad, clutch, gearbox recon and an AP brake kit in the last few months but it is only money and a car. Someone else can enjoy the work that has gone into it. I have certainly enjoyed driving it in my spare time. Every penny spent has been worth it and it never fails to put a smile on my face.
Like the OP, I can think about getting a new car to drown my sorrows.
B7 A4 TDI's are a great car. My wife ran one for 5 years before we sold it for an estate. 2.0tdi 170bhp quattros are within your price range. Last of the B7's came with good spec, few I've seen with sunroofs and satnav.
