Why there is nothing available for B4 / C4 cars

Always irked by this, and thought it would be better for me after having a Mk 1 Golf for years.

And when I've moved away from Golfs, in the last few years stuff is now being re-made for Mk 1 and Mk 2 Golfs. Ant 1.8Ts cars can be bought second hand.

Now there is not much stuff available for B4 and C4 S cars. But the reason is that there is so few of them, so there is no commercial incentive. If you look at the production figures for S2/RS2 & C4 UrS4/UrS6, not to mention how many are left now, they are tiny numbers compared to say how many BMW E30 were made / still exist.

I like the idea of bolt on upgrade parts for cars, when replacing an original part.

Anyway ignore me , I'm just whining.

This is the reason why occasionally an idea of B5 S4 pops into my head, modifying it would be so easy and straight forward, but then it's just another B5 S4, whereas our C4 S4/6 cars are rare, and stand out. Had people walk upto me and ask about the car. There are upsides and downsides on owning these I guess.

...in all seriousness, i would be happy if Audi could sell you parts to keep them going, you know like a timing belt or a diff oil seal.

For the same reason I like my b4 90. They are rare and getting more exclusive, especially in the USA, low import numbers, 20 years ago, means not a lot of people have them anymore, and to find nice ones is even more rare. My car is unique and i like that.

I always think the C4 Urs4/S6 was imported in each country with limited number. It's also rare in my country.
unlike bimmer and Merc, though the 25 yrs old cars are still running on the road. The aftermarket parts, oem, reproduction
parts, fake, used parts is still all over for Merc and Bimmer here.I was so surprised when i checked the availability of some
25 years Merc Parts at the dealer and the parts guy said yes we currently have them in stock!whilst the C4,the parts is
starting to discontinue more and more. This is a sad things that make me worried about the parts in the future.I would love to
get the later S/RS B5 only if these cars were never imported to my country! The B7 RS4 is nice but very limited number was
imported probably 5cars and with that price(58,000GBP Used), i'd consider M5 E60 for a cheaper price.

This is the only reason I wouldn't buy another B4, when I could buy a similar BMW of the same age. Availability of parts.

Fair enough if you can't get OE shocks, springs, bushes, etc, but when you can't get things that Audi, and only Audi, have ever made, then it's a kick in the teeth, IMO. Window regulators, door seals, timing belt parts, etc. The cars ain't that old.

It seems anyone also experiences the same thing!?Is this all about the VAG policies to discontinue old parts or it's all about the market mechanism on demand & supply about lower demanding?

More MGBs on the road than old Audis.
My dad can buy more new parts for his MK2 Jaguar than I can for my quattro.
If I hadn't broken so many b2/3/4 s I probably wouldn't run them due to parts issues.
Audi want new car sales, servicing and parts as they make more money.
BMW and Merc have it right with parts supply and service, but I don't want a BMW(again)

Imagine living in a country where your car is the ONLY such car currently existing and also one that was never imported. I didn't ever expect to say that but I'm starting to get tired of predicting what will be the next thing that'll break on my car and spending 2 - 3 hours per day searching the internet to find parts or accessories at "reasonable" prices plus "reasonable" shipping costs to Greece, just to manage to keep her running! I've actually quit hoping that she's ever gonna be in pristine condition. Sometimes I question whether the car is getting more worn, it being my daily commute, or I am trying to maintain it.

Audi seems to be all about profit, they will roll out a Ur quattro to advertise but don't mention that they don't supply parts for it

I suppose its hard for them as the C4, B4 cars didn't sell in large numbers (unlike Audi's of today) so to manufacture parts wouldn't be profitable.

I'm lucky like bluequattro in that i have broken a few B4 and now a couple C4 cars so have got a few spares

                        True
And luckily we share them to keep other cars going.
But one day there maybe no cars left to use the parts.
Eg- apparently there is one(according to howmanyleft) v6 avant quattro
No point breaking it as no one to sell all the parts to
                        So I'm stuck with it!

how many left is a load of bull sh** it makes it sound good that you have got one of only a handful left.

if you ask on various forums you will probably find 5-10 Audi 80 quattro estates and the same goes with other cars.

Yep the how many left thing is rubbish. When i first encountered it being used for a S6 advert,it read just 6 left just over 2 years ago.Since i have seen over 20 plus different C4 S6 cars advertised plus there are quite a few owners who have at least 3-4 of them plus there are loads of these cars left in Germany. Blue Quattro is right you can get anything for a Mk2 jag. You can get anything for most triumphs, mgb's,E types brand new for a fraction of the Audi dealer price. I would say that the numbers for some of these english cars is very low and yet the parts situation new is on the whole quite good. I have catalogues here for the stuff and it makes you angry that Audi A rip us of for what parts they have left which have doubled in price over the last 5 years and B just couldn't give a damn.I spoke with Audi's corporate truck at last years ADI and the feeling i got was they just don't care.

If you want a rare audi then heres a genuine rare audi a B3 90 2.3 7A quattro sport.Over the last 2 years i think 3 have been up for sale and there are only a handful more left.

I know someone from near me who has two b3 20v quattro sport.
I'm still waiting for him to sell me one.
Sometimes I feel like giving up with Audi and getting something with better parts supply.
Could probably build a Mustang or Camaro from a parts catalogue.
Just imagine-ABY crate motors ready to bolt in...
