Just noticed yesterday this 100% price increase on these Alcon Calipers. I emailed the ebay seller in the US asking why the increase and here was the reply.

Hello,

Thank you for your inquiry! We had to raise the price due to the fact of Alcon moving their product to MAP Pricing (Minimum Advertised Pricing). Since our Alcon listings were way below MAP, we were in violation and had to move all of our prices. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. If you have any further questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact us!

Thank you!

World gone mad

Don't know about the Alcons, but those import charges are so stupid. I avoid all US sellers that use that Global Shipping Program. I will pay my import charges and VAT to my local customs, not to some strange third party that can't guarantee that I havn't need to pay them anyway to my customs.
