Yea while you may not like the switch to another browser permanently, if you just try firefox or chrome see if you can do what you need to do, that will inform you if the problem is tied to your account or browser. You could also try starting Internet Explorer in safe mode

Windows key +R and type "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" -extoff and press ok

That will run IE without addons and you might get further.

IE hasn't worked for me on the forum for a long while now. I have to use Chrome to reply to threads or to send PMs

Just another data point: I use IE9 and never have any problems being able to post, edit my posts or read or send PMs.

Didn't IE die out with the Dodo? Seriously though, I know the latest IE has beefed up its security so that it does work most of the time but why use something so slow? It is terrible at loading webpages relative to the Chrome or Firefox. Better interface though but that is useless if the damned thing falls over.

In Internet Explorer 11 go to settings cog whilst on the forum page, click compatibility view settings, add S2 forum, that’s it. Simples.
