I've had a trailer start to snake on me once with 2 ton's of Merc on the back, not a nice experience at all

What I'm planning on collecting is quite heavy and somewhat valuable so a trailer is a last resort, besides I'm not sure it would end up any cheaper as the tow vehicle would probably have to be a van or 4x4 anyway due to the weight.

Just been looking at booking through Irish ferries and am getting some much better prices, £330 for two passengers in a small car transporter.

I'm not sure if this is likely on that boat but often in Scotland if we need a car moved from one island to another it can get dropped off at the terminal and driven on then you wait for the boat and drive it off at the other end. This gets done, from the large islands back to mainland a lot. I. Seen full trucks getting done this way.

I've got to go over and have a look at the car and do the money thing anyway so I may as well bring it back with me, I was going to make two separate trips but the ferry, fuel and accommodation expenses soon start to add up.

I've found decent enough prices for both the transporter and the ferry so I'm all set to book the tickets tomorrow when I have a bit of spare time, I want to do it over the phone so there's no ambiguity regarding what I'm driving/transporting.
