All the so called specialists can't do it sounds like a cop out to me.I would go down the Audi route pay them. They have the right tools and the best skills and when they say they have had issues before, they didn't say it happens all the time. They are just covering there backs.Sounds like the odds are stacked in your favor with Audi. Must be worth a gamble or forever have solid bushes.

Hmmm, im going to try my mate the muscle car builder otherwise im going the solid bush route. Im just fed up with not getting anywhere with this small bit of such a massive job ive taken on and I want my car back really. Im just frustrated at the lack of enthusiasm fromt eh so called specialists to attempt it really. I begrudge paying Audi the money too as the only difference with them is they have the tools which I know is a major part of this process... I just dislike the thought of having to support with my money a company of their size who have stopped making many a part for our cars and are making it difficult for us to keep them on the road.
I agree with a lot of what you said about Audi, but least they can do it right away. There's a saying here about leading a horse to water but the horse won't drink even though it's dying of thirst. If your working then it's not the end of the world to have to pay out to have peace of mind and a S2 avant rear subframe thats all new OEM and super nice. Just my 2 pence worth.

Didn't realise you had powerflex bushes.Oh dear...... Only jocking.
Hers's a story for you and the forum.I took the silver 80 avant 2.6 subframe to Autopool iver near Uxbridge just behind Fontain about 8 years ago now to change the 4 bushes.I went to collect and was asked to pay even more than was quoted because they had F**ed up with 2 of the bushes or so they claimed. I wasn't happy but what choice did i have? If it were me running a specialist place i would have swallowed having to buy another bush or 2, they were cheap enough back then, just to save the embarrassment to admit they can't do a simple job. Some companies!! It would have worked out cheaper at audi.
Edit...when i walked into their yard they looked at me strangly,i can only think it was because i was the only customer who had ever bought in a subframe in instead of giving them the whole car. Still.......they still had me over.
