Hi all, new to this site and need some help. I have just fitted a AAN 20v turbo to my 1985 coupe and have a rev limiter problem. I am using the stock aan ecu and wiring harness, problem is limiter comes in at about 5500rpm. The S6 donor car was Auto trans and was thinking that the engine ecu requires a signal to say it is in gear.
Any ideas and what pins on ecu require what. Cheers.

The pins you need to deal with are T55/42 and /51 (and maybe 43):
42/55 - (brown/green)- Gear selection input,e.g. P or N, - Automatic only - if an Automatic ECU is used in a manual trans application this wire needs to be grounded out to gives a 0 in the 4th position in VAG-com measuring block 005. It's default without being grounded is 1 = no start. (Thanks to "MG" on the S2forum for this info)
51/55- Not used for standard transmission cars - relates to kick-down shift point for automatic trans cars. Third digit in VAG-com measuring block 005. Normally "0" until kick-down with Autotrans when it goes to "1". (Thanks to "MG" on the S2 forum for this info)

Hi,
My post has nothing related to your question, but I'm very interested how looks AAN under the hood ... Especially if you have engine photo already in the car from the front
Thanks for that, I had looked at the pin out info and when it comes to auto not a lot.
Nope. Not a lot but those 2 or 3 pins could be the solution to your rev limiter problem, i.e. the AAN Motronic is trying to talk to a non-existant transmission control unit and without the necessary feed back it is trying to save the transmission (or the AAN) by limiiting the maximum RPM.
Or not. Prj will know for sure.

Ok a bit about my coupe.
AAN running 440cc injectors, GT3576 turbo, adjustable map sensor, chipped ecu, 6 speed manual driving C4 S6 suspension and rear diff. Full cage, etc to meet FIA specs that I rally under here in New Zealand. Great fun car to drive and love giving the jap cars a run for their money.. I was running a 10v engine with the works done to it, Conrod out the side took care of that when this S6 came up. At present am building a 2.5 stroker engine just need rods and pistons and that will go in with megasquirt controlling it. Some pic attached. enjoy!
