Rear torque figures and diff oil request

    Hi guys

As you probably all know (Hehe) i have been renewing the rear end of the avant. it is all back together and I ust need to put in some diff oil and torque everything up.

I have the below list of torque settings which is a good list but I cant seem to find the hub nut torque. I seem to recall its something + 90 degrees? Can anyone confirm what the actual torque is and the stretch (?) degree after that please?

    Description Tightening Torque
    Subframe bolts 35 Nm + 90 degrees
    Wishbone bolts/nuts 70 Nm + 90 degress
Anti-roll bar drop link nuts 45 Nm
Anti-roll bar bracket bolts 25 Nm
Tie rod bolt/ nut (subframe end) 75 Nm
Tie Rod nut (strut end) 40 Nm
Diff mount nut/bolt (centre) 25 Nm
Diff mount nut/bolt (sides) 25 Nm

Also, what is the best oil to use in the diff and how much does it take?

Once this is done its off to get the tracking and camber etc sorted and then back into use i hope

    Thanks
    Chris

I've got the back end of mine apart ATM sorting out springs and upper wishbone bushes which I'm waiting for before I can put it back together, so those torque figures are handy, nice one!

The rear diff takes under two litres, I've got oil from TPS for mine was fairly expensive (£50ish) but at least I know it's correct.

Unsure of the rear hub nut torque, would have to check that myself.

The rear M16 hub nut is 200Nm plus 90°, it's the same for the front too.

If I'd have to guess that's what I'd have gone for, thanks for the confirmation.

That's why I went with TPS, they gave me (way too much) GL4 for the box and GL5 for the rear diff.

I was surprised to find the RS2 gearbox only takes 2.3 litres, TPS gave me six so I credited three bottles.

Make sure your rs2 box isn't filled level. Needs to be a bit below or else it blows out the first time you exceed xxxmph.

Yeah, I made that mistake initially and had it pissing out the fill hole on about 2.7L, I then measured what I'd dropped which coincidently came to bang on 2.3L so I let 400ml out again and made a little 90 degree dipstick to confirm the level was approximately 15mm lower than the bottom of the hole. Made sure the car was dead level with jacks and a couple of spirit levels before starting the job, all seems well it's had plenty of stick without shiting any oil out the breather..
