My issue with Audi Tradition is that it is completely pointless. They have miss-understood what owners of their heritage cars actually want - which is simply to just be able to buy the pars they need for their cars when they need them. I can't actually articulate the contempt I have for Audi over this issue of obsolete parts. I actually now go out of my way to slag them off to anyone who will listen. Would I ever buy a new Audi? No ****ing way.

It should be like Porsche Classic or Jaguar Heritage where its purpose is to provide parts & service for cars no longer supported by the dealer network, not make it more expensive and difficult to source parts that were already available anyway.
Instead as Rob posted before, all they seem to do is collect all the already available stock of old stock parts and mark the price up. It's like a clearance shop, except they don't offer bargain prices, hell they don't even offer reasonable prices.

With their shockingly bad webshop and ridiculous shipping pricing where customers are charged the same shipping price for a steering wheel badge as a body panel.
Where they do reproduce parts for example the RS2 grill clips or URq front wings, the quality is appalling compared to the original, and yet the price is higher. It is offensive.

Audi, if you are listening - YOU SUCK! :corey:

This was one sad day for me as an Classic Audi enthusiast.
I was surprised to receive a phone call today from Audi Tradition They said they are really looking into my complaint and to be rest assured, in a matter of time the Audi Tradition website will be OK. It will take months but it will be OK. They have forwarded all my complaints to the proper Audi staff and the website will eventually be fixed.

The other matter - the availability of parts. The guy said that if the parts supplier company has decided not to make any new parts then that's the end.
The guy said no way would Audi talk with the supplier to make new parts. That it's impossible. The guy said that it's not economical to build N/A parts so no way Audi or the parts supplier company will make new parts.
At that point I couldn't believe what I was hearing. It's like I want to sell all my funking audis and buy a proper 635csi or 850csi and funk audi with all their cars.

I told the guy that I went to Woerthersee this year and I saw an Audi B2 , mint, with no grills in the front. I told him that we need optical elements for our car as they are the first parts who deteriorate and get damaged in crashes. And I gave the guy from Woerthersee as an example and also me, I am looking for some b2 lateral trims for years with no luck.

I also told him that Audi should reconsider this position as other brands like BMW or Mercedes supply parts for their classic cars.
(As an offtopic I bought an E30 for my birthday, and decided to do a running gear upgrade. So see in the picture the parts I've ordered directly from the shop. Everything came. Absolutely everything.)

The guy offered me 2 solutions, one to go to Audi dealership or Audi Tradition and search for parts, maybe they are there somewhere or option 2, search on the Internet. He was felling very confident that if I will look on the Internet I will find my parts.

So there you have it. Confirmation that Audi will not make new parts for our shinty cars and no way in hell they will be bothered to make new parts.
            Why? Because it's not economical.

Is it just me that I want to sell everything Audi related?

By the way, I see no point of sharing this thread with Audi now. Their position is clear.

There will come time when it won't be just grills and that sort of bits and bobs, it will start to be some major parts that we need to keep these running. Or 3rd party companies will make them, but charge you a leg for it.

Buy parts cars if you're serious / OCD.

I do agree Audi are being greedy with their stance outlined above, and I do acknowledge that parts cars are not a complete answer to the problem, but having one is a good start.

Especially before prices go up further as they do seem to be increasing on average compared to price in the last few years.

My only regret is that I didn't get / get into UrS6 cars years and years ago.

I have three running S6+ spec cars to match my daily UrS6, and an identical blue s2 Avant to match my blue S2 Avant, and a spare silver B4 V6q saloon.
Sorry, but not everyone has space and/or money to keep 10 cars to run 1.

                      This is what Porsche does for it's costumers;

Agreed, but done over the last ten years, and it hasn't been easy. Funds are tighter now as well.

I did that last October, vociferously and animated within the realms of being polite thinking it might make a difference. I asked he man,how can they stoop so low by acquiring that Beautiful Noggy Blue RS2 they gave pride of place outside their hospitality bus yet be so 2 faced and Hypocritical by not supporting the car in parts.

The guy i spoke to was roughly 55 knew Jag E types etc and agreed with my argument. How can a Repmobile 80,lets face facts that's all it is albeit a well built one, bushes cost more than the E types bushes. How can Audi justify that? :corey: Values of a Mint E-type Roadster min £100,000.00 ---------mint 2.0 8v 80 £2k? Come on,who is Audi trying to kid??

Nice post bartolomeus. Very sad to hear, but not surprising.

Funny you mention selling your Audis and getting something like a 635csi, as it's exactly what I've done. As you know, absolutely everything I need for a full tear down is available, genuine and new. As mentioned, Mercedes are also fantastic for this.

I'd never buy another S2 project car. Most of us know it's false economy buying cheap anyway, but for some that's part of the fun. It's no fun if it's literally impossible to source certain parts so that the car remains off the road for weeks/months until you find one, usually abroad with extortionate shipping, second hand.

It also drives up the prices of spares and therefore the cars in general. Good news if you've got a nice appreciating example, but it makes the rough cars much more attractive to break for parts, which is a shame.

Parts availability and cost of replacement is part of the reason S2s are worth more money broken than complete unless they are mint
