I was just going to say that, jacks are for getting the car onto axle stands only, never ever get under a car on a jack. Its also good practice to slide the wheels under the car if i take them off, it will only fall on you once.

Cutting a slot in them for the pinch weld?

You can get slotted rubber jack pads for pinch welds on ebay for about £5, available with different depth slots for different cars, or raised rectangle for BMWs.

          Another vote for "SGS".

£50 ish quid for a 1.5 jack and a pair of 2ton stands.

          No complaints.
