    Peanut-buttered my bumpers

Couldn't get wax off black trim and came across a forum saying peanut butter works like a treat, so off I went to shops, got tesco's everyday peanut butter (don't go for crunchy like I did) and started buttering

Considering cleaning products cost £5.99 and are complete pile of p00, I'd say it's a win win

Solvent would have taken the wax off too. BTW: Looks like you still have some road tar, just above the rubber, on the paint.

I used all sorts, and nothing worked, though at £0.64 you get the butter your bumpers AND have a sandwich

I haven't got around to clean her properly

I used to use this years ago. Ovvo you need to use smooth and not crunchy but you found that out. Peanut oil is very greasy and although you have to keep applying it, it does last quite a while.

I think Chris used to use a heat gun to bring the plastic resin back to the surface. He is a braver man than me though.

It did dry out quickly, but I only needed it to remove wax. I have a heat gun and tried on my dad's Octy and worked like a treat.

I thought this was going to be a spoof thread!
Saw an April fool years ago about filling carbs with squirty cream as it had Nitrous Oxide as a propellant.
And no, I didn't try it!

No, genuinely worked next time I'll try getting pure peanut oil and see how that works, even after washing plastics look superb.

I wonder if anyone fell for it?

I've used peanut butter on a few mk2 golf big bumpers to get the wax marks off as well as spruce it up for a short while and agree it works very well. I also tried to heat gun a very faded rear bumper too but the results were disastrous and I wouldn't try it again.

I've tried both and the heat gun works a charm and lasts longer than peanut butter but it is a bit harder to do and less forgiving.

Heat worked for me, then linseed oil and it stays like new for weeks.

Need to be careful with the heat gun that's for sure, but if you get it right, it'll last ages.

I've tried linseed oil before and not a fan of it, too messy IMHO.

For road tar you can use butter to remove this, surprisingly my nan told me that trick

Road tar, I'd just use white spirit. Spray and wipe off, job done.
