I have my eye on one of these scissor lifts:
    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3012719440...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

The benefit being with this one that you can move it around and it can be sat on a flagged floor. The two post lifts require a very sturdy concrete floor which isn't possible for me.

looking at new under £1500, been a few local used ones for sale but all 3 phase models.
With my low roof and garage layout still thinking a 2 post is best option.

I bought a 3 phase 4 post hydraulic lift. It cost me less than £150 for a new single phase motor and contactor to convert it.

That's a decent price thought it would have been a lot more to change

It's possible to run a 3 phase on single phase using capacitors but as said above, best to just change motor. The one I have is 3 phase screw type with chain link between the posts.

Mid rise is still awesome compared to jack and axle stands.

Got a 2post lift from Automotech
Had it delivered to my mates work so we had a forklift to offload.
Good job as it’s a beast! had to take everything out of each post before I could even get it off the truck.
Measuring it I can almost get a car underneath when its up which will be really cool.
But if not the jigsaw will be coming out after i get my garage passed

                      Hi Steve

Glad to hear you got sorted with your lift

You seem to have loads of headroom in your garage, are the 2 post lift from Automotech well made? my scissor lift seem well made and good value for the money.

Mine are still holding the RS2 up nicely

                      John

                        Hello John,

Lift is really good quality and well made.
Automotech were very helpful and delivered it in 3days.
I had alot of trouble deciding on a 2post or scissor. Decided on the 2 post because of the potential to store another car or convertible in the garage
Its maybe over kill with the 4ton model but it has the triple telescoping arms on the front which i think is an advantage with the nose heavy S2.
Will be looking at limit switch and emergency stop for the ceiling though.

                        cheers

                        Steve

That looks great! Very jealous of the ceiling height.

If you can stack cars that would be perfect, could also move cars from front to back under a non runner.

That would be cool, hopefully the lift will help me avoid a none runner though

Awesome. That looks a good garage as well.

We have cars stacked constantly at my unit and its great for space saving. I just need a house with a garage and enough headroom now.
