I compared my stock s2 3b against a volvo s70 t-5 and a bmw m3 (286hp), on the road the cars are almost equal, the bmw has a slide advantage when you drive next to eachother and hit WOT, the volvo and the s2 has ofcourse have some delay due to the turbo. This is only for the first meters after that they are pretty much the same.
I had a similar encounter but with a porsche boxter s instead of the volvo.
The porker was left behind except on braking and was loads ahead of S2. M3 had a little more acceleration at WOT but didnt corner as well. Was pretty equal all the way though. That was with standard engine & suspension but 17's on.
Think some of the stock owners need to race the M3 Evo, my mate has one of those and i cant keep up for **** in a stock S2, launching its equal, after that he's gone... mostly due to the 100 horses in his favour, rwd and the fact the gearing on them is very good!
I doubt even a chipped S2 will even stand a chance, they are 330bhp as standard and suffer less drive train losses, so i just think anyone who has lower than RS2 spec is either racing people that cant drive or its the lower powered M3.
A T-5 would leave an S2 behind if its a rolling start, they have more power and also less drive train losses..... ask Lee bout Scotland with his car and his dads.
