    Electric Impact Gun

I'm looking at getting something to help with the mechanicing and wheel changing, so nothing too crazy but wondered if

    a) anyone had any recommendations

    and / or

    b) if anyone is selling one?

    TIA

Reccommend a snap on impact gun as anyone woulx, ingersoll rand too but these are both pricey items. Second hand snap on's for about £200 would be my best bet

Totally agree, do your research and try and get one with a new/decent battery..

Download your Mac Tools product catalogue here. It includes automotive tool brands Facom and Mac Tools as well as professional tool brands such as DeWalt and Britools.

Our mechanics use these at work seem pretty good

We use bosch at work. GDS18V-LI HT professional. 18 volt 4.0 ah battery. I bought a impact gun and drill, 5 batteries, 2 chargers and carry cases for £400. Does anything a snap on or Mac gun will do.

Not in the same league as the brutal snap on etc ones but the sealey cp2400 ones are very good for the money (around £100)

Yeah, for what I will use it for, I can't justify going much in to three figures. If it was for a business or regular use, then fair enough...

Clarke, Sealey and Nielsen seem to be in the price ballpark...

How much do you want to spend?

What do you expect it to undo? Wheel bolts? Subframe bolts? Hub bolts? Strut bolts?

ive used mine regularly for 6 years for wheels and ripping cars apart mainly and its only needed a battery replacing once, have dropped it in puddles, fallen off the top of a few cars, its certainly past its best but keeps on going, its removed a few crank bolts from 7a's here and there

Ive got a snap on one but Milwaukee have a new one out on a bit of an offer. Not cheap but two reliable 5Ah batteries, charger and gun.
A few of the local garages have bought them as they were on special and nothing but good reports. This is from lads used to the snap on.
As i said, not cheap but you get what you pay for.
Of all the "luxury" car items ive bought the snap on gun has been the most useful, even for part time mechanics.

Im looking at buying a similar tool soon. The Sealey one looks a bit bulky/heavy to me but I haven't got any first hand experience

I use a dewalt plug in version here in the USA. Works a treat, cost around 150 usd new.

if your after something decent then Snapon can't go wrong or even a secondhand 1 if your not wanting to pay a lot

I also use a corded electric impact gun. Electronic settings - goes to 350 lb-ft. I've used it for wheel changes and front suspension disassembly.

Here are the easy options I would be faced with:

                            http://www.canadiantire.ca/en/search...e&q=impact+gun

Here is what I bought (but for much less on sale, in a case with a set of metric and SAE impact sockets):

My brother is a mechanic and uses a Sealey one that seems good enough. used it loads when doing the rear bushes on the avant and it worked an absolute treat!
