I had a BMW 330Ci M sport E46 coupé and now have a 320d M sport E92 estate, they really are a driver's car, such a pleasure to drive. The handling and braking performance is amazing especially on the E92. The front wheels are so far forward they turn into corners beautifully. I will always have a BMW now!RS2 - Project Mental Wheels

Yeah, I'll echo that sentiment- driven several 330 E46s, the Clubsport is especially nice ... with a view to getting a n/a, cheaper to run car and replacing the S2..every time it misbehaves/can't get the parts....(then I can't bear giving her up..I had a BMW 330Ci M sport E46 coupé and now have a 320d M sport E92 estate, they really are a driver's car, such a pleasure to drive. 2004 Nissan 350z GT (Rays wheels, brembo brakes, heated leather)

I decided I fancied trying a sports car rather than my usual "boring" looking cars.
350z is cheap, reliable, nice handling (so much more grip than an S2, much less traction though!) Not the same build quality as and Audi.
BMW Z4 is really nice if you want a convertible, I found it a bit small though.

For me, the Nissan 350z is a poor choice. Maybe my mate had a dud but it suffered from electrical issues, limp mode. Factor in the pig ugly factor (subjective I accept) and the fact it is relatively slow and I do not think it has much going for it. Sounds good though but just does not really move you.
For the money and the fact you want something reliable, not a project but you want some type of special feeling I would go for either;
