Just watched the F1 Russia (recorded while I was in the south of France). Very disappointed with Kimi. Not sure what the Fk he was thinking. Takes both Finns out in one bonehead move and gifts the constructors trophy to Mercedes (via the 30 second penalty). Very disappointing. Finns must be really disappointed.
Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton eased to victory in Sochi on Sunday, his pole-sitting team mate Nico Rosberg having retired from the lead with throttle problems on lap 7. Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel took the runner-up spot to move into second in the title standings, with Force India’s Sergio Perez earning third in dramatic fashion after a final-lap clash involving Williams’ Valtteri Bottas and Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen.
My opinion - I have done a fair bit of go karting, so a bit of open head track experience ... I will divide the accident between the two drivers as both had a share in making it happen .
Bottas - find the onboard of Kimi prior to the corner and you will see that Bottas goes way too much to the left EXPECTING Kimi to be closer and follow his line . You do that when you want to slow down your opponent as much as possible for the next straight - when you have advantage - more powerful engine , or a disadvantage - worn out tyres, so you are weak at cornering.... After Bottas realised Kimi is not following and is going for it - tried to close the door, but too late and should have left space for two cars and do his thing - try and drag race Kimi on the straight
Kimi - Seeing Bottas way too much to the right , opening the corner nice and sweet for an attack - and coming at a greater speed - he went for it. Anyone would have done it . You dont race to follow drivers in front of you , you race to be in front of them .
Racing incident - Kimi went for it , Bottas did not leave space for two cars .

I think you meant way too much to the LEFT.
I've watched two videos now and I agree, it does look from Kimi's angle that the door was open. On the other hand, in the first video, which shows the Bottas camera, it looks good ("normal" line) too. Bottomline: Racing incident and I now think Kimi should not have been penalized. (10 sec + 20 sec pit lane = 30 sec).
left , sorry. Clip one - at the begining - see how Perres left space for two cars in the corner, just in case ? Yes Bottas was closer to Perres than Kimi to Bottas, but check Perres was on a defensive race line as much as possible !
Clip two shows how much faster in the corners was Kimi and why he went for it , he was able to carry much more speed everywhere apart from the straights .
The Formula 1 message boards have recently been abuzz with discussion of the Rosberg/Hamilton collision at Spa 2014. From these discussions it has emerged that many fans are not well acquainted wit…
Yes, because Kimi has come steaming in at a ridiculous angle. He'd have gone right to the other side of the track coming out of the corner. There's nowhere Bottas could be that wouldn't have resulted in KR hitting him.

This is my thought on the lines that were evolving at that point. Even if Kimi had snuck through Bottas, he (Kimi) would have gone wide and Bottas would have just cut inside and regained the position. (IMO)
Kimi Raikkonen says he would attempt the same move on Valtteri Bottas again despite being penalised for the last-lap tangle between the pair in the Russian Grand Prix.
That explains it all
As I said, anyone would have gone and tried. Bottas move to the left was asking for it.
After looking at some those car videos, it was *almost* like Bottas suckered Kimi into making the move and then shut the door on him. Bottas's tires must have been sh*t if he went that far to the left before turning in.
