Guys am wanting to change my Audi A4 (58 plate) with 96k on the clock that's in good nic for a Land Rover Discovery and I really can't decide between the mark 2 or 3?? I have seen a few good ones advertised for the mk2 on a 04-54 plate I like the shape and I know you take them any where which is the appeal as I like off roading and then I like the mk3 based on the RR Sport chassis again from 05 up to an 08. Anybody with any experience of both vehicles and what to look for would be very much appreciated thanks!
Change of Car decision??

Wow Anthony, you're exchanging reliability for almost certain disappointment- the LR brand is infamous for its ability to (expensively) let you down...and I had 2 Defenders which were better than most, but Discos of that period are also prone to rust issues as well as the reliability stakes. I'm a Toyota man now (Hiluxes) and would recommend you go for a Landcruiser- brilliant in all depts. whatever model.Guys am wanting to change my Audi A4 (58 plate) with 96k on the clock that's in good nic for a Land Rover Discovery and I really can't decide between the mark 2 or 3?? I've had a few Disco 2s.
First one drained my bank account more than any Audi
If you go for a 2 have one with no air suspension, normal ARBs not ACE, no sunroofs etc-base spec.
I did that with my last one and nothing gone wrong in 12 months
BUT Disco 2 chassis rust instead of body like D1
Not sure about D3 as never had oneComment

Thanks guys I will send Tonks a pm. I thought the Discos were built to last! I had a RR Sport on a 05 plate 5 years ago so wasnt that old and what a vehicle loved it but after my expense this year am struggling to afford one specially after getting the A6. I may just stick with the A4 and maybe stick with the Audi brand and get another Quattro!? Toyota could be an option??Comment

My work have me driving a Hi lux and it's needed lots of work. Only 2 years old and 70 k miles now and it's well through its use full life I would say.

Like all modern marques- the models don't seem to have the same strength and quality- they look good +drive great initially but only designed to last 10 yrs max....my Hiluxes are like my Audis....still going after 20 odd yrs

Apparently the example I have is built in south Africa. Its needed an alternator, set of common rail injectors, air con parts, rear diff parts and transfer box bits. Also the driver seat is wore out. All that in 2 years and less than 70 k miles. Clutch feels about finished too. So much for Toyota build quality.

Yup , shame about Toyota- no pickups have been built in Japan for ages...my wife's Hilux is one of the last to be built there and it's still bombproof.
Anyway we digress...best of luck Anthony for whatever vehicle takes your fancy!
