I suppose it could happen with some addresses, as up until recently there were no proper post codes like other countries.

But in the last few months we've now got post codes for every address in the country.

Ask the recipient for their new post code and that should make parcels deliverable.

    Try this link.

Never had a problem myself, easiest thing to do is make sure the courier has the recipients phone number.

My wife has a relation that lives outside cork. We drove down a few years ago to meet up with her and I asked for a postcode. When she said she didn't have one I thought she was having a laugh! She then went on to say the post would often come to their neighbours as they had the same family name. It just seemed so odd that she said that many people were fighting against postcodes being introduced? Not sure why.

Glad you finally got them. Should help the post system and us northerners and make Sat nav systems work a fair bit better down south too.

Only ever had an issue with rural addresses - urban always fine. Kind of expected I suppose without postcodes - relying on the local knowledge of the delivery driver.
If they are as retarded as the ones we have in the UK I'm surprised anything arrives at all.

I never understood that either, post codes always seemed like a no brainer to me. ....everytime we went to order online we had that game of "invalid postcode" routlete where you had to invent a magic code that the website would accept

                Parcels from England to Ireland

The easiest way to send stuff over to Ireland is to use Parcel Motel. Get the recipient of your goods to register with them and Bob's your uncle.
The only drawback is the package size.

What way does post work? If send with Royal Mail, does An Post deliver it? Assuming its not too big. A friend of mine owns a courier company who contract for FedEx and UPS in the north west of Ireland on both sides of the boarder, from what he tells me easier find places in the north on the satnav whereas downland names can be a pain in the south

                    Hi Goodall, he's dead right.

His life may get easier in the 'South' with the new post codes.

Always loved driving in England with a Sat Nav in my younger days. Plug and Play of the post codes meant you could drive like a local and never lose your way. After maps and signs in my really younger days it was heaven sent.

Now an iPhone does it, once it can find the address........
