How hard t is to swap RHD to LHD S2 3B coupe

Hi, Because of leaving UK I still want to keep my S2 and take it with me. In theory I understand job involved in this, just can not find someone done it and explained not in this forum not in google exactly on this car.

    So questions:

What donor cars are the best bet? My guess is on 2.3 any coupe. Not sure about b3 and b4 similarities. Any other donor coupe options as easy enough swap?

Does fire wall stays as it is on this model?

How hard to change front screen wipers side?

What about electric loom? need to find lhd s2 or can be transfered the existing one with no big issues?

We have an enthusiast here who did a swap from RHD to LHD on UrS4. Lots of welding involved. Probably the same on S2.

2.3 coupe will probably be your best bet. I think even sedan or avant will work also, fronts are the same.

Yes I have read his thread in audistyle forum and the work he done is insane. Planing to bring my s2 to Lv by the way
I have found some information about b2 and there is no big trouble. Audi 100 or A6 are well known as no no no, just need to confirm what is happening with Audi 80 B3.

Here are some of the different LHD vs RHD body parts:

        http://audi.7zap.com/en/rdw/audi+cou.../8/809-809030/

Stupid question: Is it not possible to just import your RHD S2 and register it as such in Latvia?

You can register RHD car in Latvia for short period of time to do LHD swap. It was 6 months or so.
Firewall is the same, tray where fusebox and aircon intake are, is different and "shelf" where steering column is attached to is also different. Some brackets in engine bay, headlights and wiring.
As above 2.3 coupe would be the best and there are tons of them for cheap prices.

Firewall was my biggest worry. Thanks for info, sounds like mission possible than. Good reason to take engine out make proper service, refresh steering system and try to find donor car with climate control.

Take a closer look and you'll see that everything is there on the firewall. You just need to cut holes on one side and weld them shut on opposite side.

                Joke:

2nd Lumberjack: Oh yeh by golly, it is a real beaut. I've replaced the handle three times and the head twice but it is the best axe I've ever had.

+1 to Europe because it is impossible to find a good S2 here. Haven't seen a good one on sale for a long time.

I don't see anything wrong with repairing an S2 that have been fitted with a steering wheel on the wrong side.

LHD s2 coupe will be always bit more expensive than s2 RHD. I have been thinking about selling and even put it up for sale 1/2 year ago. Didn't sell and decided to keep.

The fact is: If I'll sell my black S2 coupe I'll never buy an LHD one. With money in my hand and in need for car, I'll end up in A4 or A6 quattro avant with 1.9 or 2.5 tdi.

At this point I can buy potential donor car and use it as a car for the year or so, easy!

I have a S2 LHD that I am converting to RHD. (track car) Its a huge job. Steering col support and shape of firewall is totally different, left to right. Brake booster either stays on right with remote operation or battery needs to be moved over.

LHD Pedal set will need to be purchased as the offset of the pedals is different. Dash and wiring.

I would rather buy a LHD 80 / 90 B3 or S2 /RS2 and transplant the running gear. Then you can sell your S2 body. Will be cheaper.

It is not an S2 anymore when it is done. I can see the point, but I can not see how it is easier to swap all car over. Battery can be moved to rear - under the rear seat or spare wheel location.

LOL. Battery is the least of the problems.

Forgot , you will also need a LHD steering rack with hydraulic pipes for it and brake booster.

                            Have fun.

Thanks Ryss for more information. What exactly on fire wall is different on both sides? The plan is to use 2.3 audi coupe as a donor car for steering parts, pedals ect. Brackets needs to be welded in is coming from donor car as well. The main job might be given to garage who specialized on steering wheel swap on other cars not at DIY basis. Welding for sure.
