1996 ABY S2 Coupe advice- Starter motor

Evening guys and girls..

My precious baby let me down tonight, the starter motor has failed and upon diagnosis by the breakdown chap, he thinks could be repaired just by taking apart and fitting brushes??

He also googled a replacement from Europarts which returned a reduced price Lucas unit at £90 ish+vat which he assumed would be a reconditioned part??

Has anyone else looked at this type, are they reliable or should I be looking at other makes or sourcing from elsewhere?? Your advice would be appreciated??

Repair yours, good auto electrics place will do it for far less than £90, and will likely be a thousand times better, as most modern stuff is pap.

Either repair yours or get a good used one. Any 5-cyl starter will do. When mine died, I got it from 2.3 NG.

Does anyone know the standard model number and brush part numbers as I may have a go myself if I can get to the brushes easy enough?
