I didn't use the aircon much during the summer (it was working, but not particularly well), and earlier this week I used it (the first time in months) to keep the screen clear in heavy rain.
When I got home that night, as I turned the engine off, I could hear the fans coming to a stop, (they had both been running constantly, and Still are) when the engine was no hotter than it normally runs.
Today I had the fault codes pulled.....
00256 A/C Pressure/Temperature Sensor
G395 No Signal, No Communication
On the way home from the garage I tried the aircon again (outside temp showed 14c (unbelievable in South Wales in December!!!
), and had No cooling effect.
My question is-
Would you go for a Re-Gas first (it appears to need it) hoping that this will cure the problem, but the engineer (a friend) says he believes that replacing the above sensor would lose the gas, making the re-gas a waste of time.
or
Go straight for the Sensor, and a re-gas after that. (What if there's no problem with the sensor?)
As I rarely use the aircon, if I had to do without it, that wouldn't cause me a real problem (pulling a relay/fuse to achieve this, but would the fan(s) still run on engine overheat?
