Finally got around to fitting the new style knock sensors after the Christmas break and I'm glad to say that the fault is now cured, no misfire and no hesitation.

Fuel line replacement next as I've noticed I have a real patchwork of rubber and original corroded line and a distinct smell of fuel, obviously a previous owner has had a go at leak fixing before !

      Cheers,

      Martin

Now this is seriously interesting that the donut style knock sensors fitted and have worked for you!

They seem to be a lot more readily available as fitted to most other engines, only the 7A seemed to have the bolt type screw in ones.

Which donuts did you fit? Part number of model they were suitable for would be good

          Steve

The parts I fitted were as follows:

          Fwd Sensor, cylinders 1&2 : 026123038 (Green)
          Rear Sensor, cylinders 3, 4 and 5: 026123036 (Blue)

I secured them with M8x25mm bolts torqued to 20Nm.

I used the link kindly provided by Austin (Yodasfro) earlier in the thread to get the part numbers.

          Many thanks to him

I didn't research which other vehicles they fit but they are readily available.

          Cheers,

          Martin

ooopps, missed the link earlier on but nice one anyway!

I used these people recently to get OE thermostat, timing belt roller, coolant temp sensor, lambda probe and timing belt. Very good pricing and the knock sensors appear to be coming in at £25 for bosch items! WINNER :-) Despite being a .co.uk website the parts are actually coming from Germany and at a delivery price competitive with actual UK companies.
