    B7 quattro suspension question.

So I know I am on an S2 forum but you guys also have newer cars and know a bit about them; I believe if you change the spring cups for B5 ones on the above cars it has a lowering effect. Mine has been lowered but it sits higher at the front than back, I think this is normal if it's had -40mm springs all round but I feel the need to lift the back slightly and lower the front slightly, that's all, then I wold be happy

Coil overs?? Swapping front spring cups on b5 from rs4 to s4 ones drops the front 10mm. I would suggest it has the same affect on b7

Coilovers are another possibility but I am trying to do this a bit on the cheap as I am going to have to do a bit of a suspension re-build at some time and if I can pull this off, I may not have to change as much later, if that makes sense. SO what would I need for the swap do you think I would need, are we talking B5 cups of B7 S4? I looked up the two schematics; B5 and B7 but I wasn't sure they looked interchangeable and wondered if I need to change more than just the cups but maybe I should have been looking at different models in the same range?

Yes James RE2500 has done this on his B6 S4 and it looks great. It's about 15-20mm drop IIRC. Keep meaning to do it to ours too. Job for the warmer months me thinks

Fitting B5 front spring perches to a B7 apparently drops the front approximately 15mm.

          B7

          B5

Note B5 S4 and B5 RS4 spring perches are different.

There are a lot of threads with people fitting B5 cups to B6/7s with part no.s to confirm.

Error 404, yes you are right, it's all very well sitting here behind a computer and planning what you would ideally do......if it wasn't for the weather

A we thread resurection; I got part numbers from the link on here for teh front spring perches; 8DO 142 103B. I thought I would probably just get them from TPS but I found these: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MAPCO-SPRI...MAAOSwzOxUVSdd on E.Bay. The part numbers match but they don't look right to me, from the pictures above I could see whay changing them would make a difference but not so much with these, what do you guys think?

I don't know what it is with E.Bay sellers but they like their short answers. I asked if this would fit my car or if they could source ones that did; answer No we cannot get these. So I guess it means no they don't fit and that's all we can source. I looked some of the catalogues last night and the part numbers are definitely correct, ones I have for mine and as above for the B5. That number is mentioned on his posting, so still a bit confused, obvious option I suppose is just to get them form TPS.

Are Mapco not aftermarket? In which case they will probably fit, but a generic fit for a range of models.

Like when you buy cheap after market springs, they supply the same springs for each model, they do fit, but result in interesting ride heights.

For what you want I would make sure you get an OEM or correct size part.

Must be something like that, always good to see a name you recognize but if the seller thinks they don't fit then I guess it's TPS here I come
