Just booked this on-line. There is a £10 off voucher code shown- and that made the total price £39.00
I wouldn't normally do this at this time of year, but I know the air-con isn't blowing cold, and for £39 it's a no-brainer.
Well I had this done last week- and they found 'a leak', and told me they couldn't go any further with it, until it was sorted (and that If whoever sorted the leak, re-charged the system, they would refund my payment). It was in the workshop for 90 mins; I was told that it required 90kg of gas (surely 90g, but I wasn't gonna correct them), and that as it had emptied their machine, they needed to replace the bottle. Eventually, I was shown the display on the machine showing 'Vacuum test Failed', but surely a Vac Test is the first thing the machine would have done, Before filling with Gas?
I've now had 'the leak' sorted (turned out to be a wiring fault at a sensor!!), the air-con now working normally, and, true to their word, they've just refunded my payment.
I'm just a tad irritated by the fact that it apparently wasn't a leak after all, but at least I've had a refund, and thinking positively- the wiring fault was a whole lot cheaper/easier to fix than a leak in the condensor or pump, eh??
If you get a good Kwik-fit they are OK, so long as you get a discount as well, wouldn't want to pay their full price but otherwise I wouldn't go near them. We used to use Edinburgh form time to time and the guy there was very good but it wasn't safe to assume if one is good they all will be in my experience. Better to get a good independent Air-con specialist, that's who I go to now. The guy I go to is mobile but most times I just go to his house in the evening and he fixes whatever needs done there, he's a classic car buff and we can talk for hours, sometimes the job's only half an hour right enough, don't tell the Wife
