S2 turbo rebuild

Hi guys thank you for letting me join ,I have owned Audis for years and have just purchased a 95 s2 avant ,it has a slight problem as it is overboosting and cutting the engine ,I am assuming it is a weak spring inside for the waste gate,is this a hard job to do or leave it to the proffesionals ?,many thanks in advance simon

A weak wastegate spring won't cause over boost. Sounds like fuel cut to me. Have you pulled the fault codes?
First step after doing that is to carry out a full boost leak test.

Might as well throw a stroker and a gt35 at it while your checking for boost leaks.
