    Petrol options

Put a tank of Tesco Momentum in a couple of days ago to see what homefries makes of that whole extra RON :-) Until now I've religiously put only VPower in but frankly the car seems to be staying on the higher maps more reliably on the Tesco 99 octane. It's quite a bit cheaper too so I can afford to throw a bottle of redline injector cleaner in every few tanks to make up for it presumably being a little 'dirtier'.

What are other people in the UK filling up with?

Depends what it's mapped for basically but if it's 98/99 then Shell V-Power or Tesco99 are the only options. I find mine has always ran fine on either, but runs horrifically on BP Ultimate.

I always run on Tesco 99 now. My car went through a spell of not feeling as quick as it should. Only explanation i could think of was i was running Vpower/Ulitmate for a while. After a few tanks of Tesco 99 car felt back to normal without me fiddling with anything else. My car is Homefried.

Agree on BP ultimate seeming to be the worst of them all. I swapped between that and VPower tank by tank and always felt performance better on VPower. So far the Tesco fuel seems to have the edge on the VPower though. When timing is pulled back I notice it first off-boost, lag seems worse all of a sudden. Will stick with it for another couple of tankfulls and then make my mind up.

One old racing trick for 'pump fuel only' on older engine setups was to go half and half unleaded to super unleaded then a shot of octane booster and a shot of fuel injector cleaner. (in paddock talk, white spirit). I used to do this for the road with the old GT, then rally car, but gave up because once the AAN rally car engine arrived it sorted out the issue with the ECU and, put simply, its a right faff..

If you have E85 nearby you can try ~25% E85.

What's people's thoughts on the sainsburys super unleaded as they didn't have Tesco 99 last time I went there. It seemed fine on my b5 rs4 for the last 18 months
