    Painting...

As some of you know I do a bit of painting as a hobby.

Anyway I thought I'd share my last project, I did it over the Christmas break. Both my lads race karts, which is why I'm not on here as much as I was..!

What do you think, the pictures don't show it but the black "MATT" part is painted with a carbon fibre effect finish..

    Happy New Year to all.

    Darren.

      Haha... and straightening kart frames...

Have to say its the most competitive sport I've ever been involved with you spend hours (and fortunes) chasing less than a 10th of a second..

The frames being straight with the pre-loads in the right place is critical to bringing the tyres on and importantly keeping them on, hence I built a shed and purchased an assembly table with a 4ton press built into a gantry allowing me to push poke and bend them as I like. Have to say the interest in this is massive and I've done 18 of them for people over Christmas alone.

      All the best

      Darren.

You are seriously into this Darren! Great job indeed! I have got a PCR myself and even though i'm not as involved as i'd like to, i can't agree more about the competition in this sport ;-)
        Carry on! :-)

Do you ever get up to PFI at Newark? Me and a few friends used to regularly do the Sunday 100 race there, even won it once!!

Good job, looks great. There is a kart track down the road from me in rural shenington which is always rammed with caravans, awnings and the whine of the karts caning it around the track. It is very competitive. One of my mates got into it in the last year and now spends all his money on it. Sounds like good fun. Bet your boys love it as much as you do.

Thanks guys, it's a great way of spending time with your kids.

It teaches them respect for others, rules that simply can't be broken or challenged (MSA) and more importantly how to hold the anger in when the red mist shows it's self.

Yes we race at Shenigton and PFI, great track PFI...

              Cheers

All looks rather testicle, we used to get the fat lad on one corner and jump on the opposite one, look at it with one eye and the tongue out ' that'll be reet'

Karts have moved on so much. I too used to race years ago and don't ever remember straightening a chassis, there like mini F1's these days, it's a proper science to win... Had a 1, 2 last month in the final so somethings making a difference....

Andy spray the fine line colour on first and then mask with fine pinstrip masking tape, I've got everything from 3mm down to .5mm in .5 increments, you then go over the top with your next colour and mask again and so on until your done, pull all the tape off tidy up and clear coat, wet sand polish your done....

As for the lettering I have a vinyl stencil cutter that will pretty much allow me to cut anything....

Hope it helps.. More about patients than skill..
