Yes, currently RS2's are not allowed on the road in the USA neither are S2's apart from some of the earliest 3B cars.

I don't know the specific details but they were never approved for import when new but do qualify once over 25 years old under legislation covering classic cars. I'm sure a state side member could explain in more detail...

In three years time they will qualify and the prices will go up considerably, LHD Noggy blue examples will be particularly desirable. I know some Americans are already purchasing cars and storing them ready.

The most fundamental reason is Audi not submit the the RS2 (and S2 coupe and S2 avant/sedans) for emissions testing and/or crash testing to meet the US EPA and DOT standards. No certification = no importation until 25 year rule kicks in when those EPA and DOT requirements are waived.

That said, I fancy my chances more in a 25 year old Audi than a 15 year old average american car

(Good) RS2's will not stop here
I totally agree, the prices will not stop here, i think that in a 3 years time it will rise to over 100K eur.
              Kind regards

Similar mileage but same ball park price here as well:

Prefer this colour but not keen on the nut trim... It's been on the market for a month or so, so they're not being snapped up at this price, but it definitely shows the direction they're going in.

NOPE, but still interesting that the price is going up.
