    New Turbo RS2

    Just arrived.

As title New GTX3071R turbo with standard RS2 turbine housing, machined to fit the GT30 turbo.

I didn't need to be a brain surgeon to guess what's in the box

Also got to love Audi Tradition, last August part number 8A0615611E N/L/A

Went and ordered them 2 weeks ago

Sneaky view of underside of car.

Very nice, that thing should kick like a mule. I'd go for the same setup if I could find an uncracked k24 hotside.

Oooh very nice, are you running forged rods? I'm planning the same for my s4.

The set up I am going for is:

I am hoping to achieve 400 - 450 bhp but still be very driveable around town, it wont be used everyday just a weekend toy or sunny evenings

            034 High power coil set
            Scat Rods
            034 Big end set
            034 Mains set
            ARP head stud kit
            ARP Main stud kit
            Exhaust valves
            New turbo as above
            Balanced
            Victor Reinz gasket set
            Silicone Hoses (black)
            Dump valve
Wanted a Sachs clutch!! But Sachs say they no longer do them for the RS2

            Any recommendations for a clutch?

Is there anything I have forgot?

I cannot take any credit for the spec of the engine rebuild, I just have a shopping list

I am sure there will be lots of other recommendations out there from people with a hell of a lot more experienced than myself

Have you got a custom hose for the turbo to maf? Gtx3071 is a 4" inlet I believe?

400 to 450hp and a good driver keep the dual mass and if you don't launch hard fit a stock clutch. stick with what you have although the sre isn't heavy its a big additional cost. my stock clutch lasted 2 bar boost 500 ish hp though not a quick a torque ramp as the rs2 unit. stock coils will be fine if in good shape. I have never had an issue with mine.

take the scats and pistons to impulse in Rochdale. have them weight matched and put them back in. same with the head. he can rebuild the head for you as he did with mine. the block too if you want that. id not bother with the valves. ARPS are good. saves issues in the long run. rs2 shells from audi

new cam seal, rocker gasket set. get some new piston wrist pin clips/rings. more than you need.

dump valve is really a no-no on stock ecu.

think you bought or collected my standard s2 wheels a couple months back?

I would not both with the 034 HO coils, they won't ft a RHD car very well. You can buy the LS coils very cheaply, I can make you a harness for them and you can buy a proper lead set from Magnecor, all for about 2/3 the price of 034's kit. Or go with TFSi coils

Wouldn't bother with main studs either at this power level. Standard mains or 12.9 bolts will be more than enough. Spend the money elsewhere.

I would not use 034, I have had so many problem with most parts and supply from them and thats what I keep hearing from other people

                      There are other good supplers

This last photo of the underneath looks like a cartoon / CGI photo it is so perfect.

Looking forward to more photos in due course.

Well done. Your effort and expense is paying off. Should squat nicely on a summer's evening.

In Germany there is a guy who still does SREs AFAIK...I only don't know if he can change stocks to sinter, or if he only can refurbish them. If you're interested, I'm gonna check.

Hey! thanks for all your input, as I posted earlier I just got the shopping list it was put together by Pete from White Cottage Audi top man

                              Thanks for the info

jade: I might give 034 a miss if they are that bad.

Error: which coil pack would you recommend? and where from please.

Gaz, Tom & Mac: Thanks for your kind words, it will take me a while but it will be worth it in the end I have spent god knows how many hours cleaning the underside of the car and all the engine bay, de-crudding & de-taring what an a*se of a job but it will be worth it when resprayed

4 wheel drifter: I might just get a sticker made up for my car when done I don't know why but I love your 1/90 man just got quicker not yet I haven't but I will let you know when 1/90 man does get quicker

Kieron: Thanks for the heads up on the hose I hadn't realised it was different

Anyway I have a few more options now.

As I put in earlier post I just have a shopping list and to be honest I don't know a great deal about engines and some of the post's / info on the forum might as well be a plane as it goes right over my head but I am keen to learn, I just love taking things to bits cleaning them up and then rebuilding them, (no not the engine) thats why I am taking my time and making my RS2 as clean and new looking as possible.

The remit with the engine from me was to be about 400 -450 bhp but still look standard when I lift the bonnet I will keep putting 1 or 2 pictures up for you guys as I know we all love pictures

                              Thanks again

PS. BIG,BIG thanks to my wife when I tell her I am working on the RS2 tonight she just says OK I'll catch up on Home and Away what a girl.

No I am not putting that just because its Valentines day.
