Need some info guys if I fit a stock RS2 turbo to a stock 230 bhp ABY engine would it run or would I need a remap?

You better don't drive the car ...
)
What i did : full rs2 setup and stock software = well , you can say it's a total disaster, waste of fuel and so on ....even a small diesel is faster
: full rs2 setup and aan stage 1 = somehow better, but still waste of fuel ... faster then a 3.0 tdi
: full rs2 setup and rs2 stage 1 = can't describe in words ...
faster then s5 !

It will run but you couldn't thrash it , I drove mine a few miles after the conversion years ago just to get home and install the correct chipsComment

Without remap you would have boost and torque later, and even maybe little less. Plus little weaker throttle response, but only same power. Bad idea.Last edited by Quattronaut; 19 March 2016, 21:23.Comment

Collect all the bits first then fit all at once, no point just fitting the turbo, suppose you could drive it cautiously off boost but wouldn't advise it for longComment

First drive an rs2 or rs2 setup and think later if you still want it.It is reasonable fast but that turbine boosts in a rev range you will never be in when normal driving. Not to speak about lag..
A boosted stock k24/7000 is 1 milion times friendly to use compared to that "dream"7200.Comment

Disagree there. ~3000 boost vs ~3500 boost and 70 extra bhp up top. Sure, if you drive your car like a diesel, then k24 7000 is for you but if you go over 4000 rpm then the differences are larger and easy to enjoy. I don't give a second thought to my 300bhp k24 7000 setup after 5 minutes driving with 360bhp k24 7200 setup. With a forged engine and remap or with hybrid turbo, the argument is even weaker as you can use all the boost earlier.
Raw numbers: 30-60, 2nd gear: k24 7000 3.0s min, k24 7200 2.4s min. Enough said. Even with the lag, the RS2 unit is the one to have.Last edited by Rusty; 19 March 2016, 06:58.Cheers'en, AndyC

I think the reason people assume the RS2 turbo is 'laggy' is down to the way it performs on stock RS2 software, sure the stock K24 is a great little turbo but I know which I'd prefer.
To answer the DEREKO'S question, the car will run with stock software and a K24 7200 but not properly, it's only acceptable as a temporary measure preferably with the N75 unplugged. If your going to fit one you need the rest of the hardware, injectors, exhaust manifold etc and appropriate software all of which is readily available but soon adds up to good few quid.1990 B3 2.0 80 quattro.

3000 vs 3500 you think at full boost. The k24700 helps starting with 2200rpm,more help 2600.The 7200 is like a dead body untill 3k.Disagree there. ~3000 boost vs ~3500 boost and 70 extra bhp up top. Sure, if you drive your car like a diesel, then k24 7000 is for you but if you go over 4000 rpm then the differences are larger and easy to enjoy. And the power after 3500 rpm for the k247200....does not worth the effort for the swap. For that money+little something,a different setup with a ball bearing turbo will do the job, more power, lower rpm boost build, less lag.Or enjoy the stock+software.
Raw numbers: 30-60, 2nd gear.........This is not a comparation.100-200 km/h is.And if you can explain the better 2.5-3 secconds worth dealing with that k247200 means you do not drive your car,you race it.And if you race it that k247200 is not a racing turbine.Comment

Hey guys, please don´t mix up the thread´s title (which is, sorry DEREKCO, but kinda "sub-optimal"
) with the in reality asked question (to read in post 1)...this is not a general RS turbo discussion
(but if it would be: today it is in general a bad idea, spending money for 30 year old turbos. Do you think there was no advance in 30 years of engineering? The only reason to buy an RS2 turbo is, that they are cheap when used. Or maybe keeping the whole thing completely stock.)
