England are basically a bit shyte. My expectations of their international tourney results fell many years ago. Wrong approach, wrong mentality and half the time the wrong players.

In my lifetime, only Hoddle, Robson and El Tel have been any good. They were all fairly loose and understood you had to score goals.

How Beckhams generation didnt win is amazing. On paper, that late 90's/early noughties team was very very good. Far better than the dross we have now.

Get 'Arry in for a coupla yrs. He aint gonna do any worse and at least we could watch football to be proud of even if the results remain the same.

well, at least England was in France to lose from Iceland, unlike another country on the North Sea who never made it to France after loosing twice from Iceland

Yeah well I think the Scots have been too busy rebuilding Hadrian's wall to play football recently

and also thanks to the referee who understood that football is a contact sport

For this "outside observer" the England-Iceland match was one of the most enjoying to watch.

Totally agree on both points. Although giving that penalty straight away was a bit questionable.

Bloody fantastic result for Wales and have to say thoroughly deserved hope the English players are watching instead of ******* about on sunny beaches in the Maldives etc. Now that's how to put a performance in!!!
