Stick some Avus alloys and an S2 badge on it, join the A2 owners club, buy some leather driving gloves and blitz the opposition at Castle Combe ;-)
We actually considered one briefly as a tootle-about (in a moment of ageing allroad gloom) but never had a serious look.
Got my first A2 a while ago. Bloody good cars. If you are good with spanners and have got access to diagnostic equipment then you can do most stuff yourself.
A2 owners club is a must for information.
We ran one that the Mrs used for a year or so... Wanted a TDI,better fuel economy/low tax, but quite hard to buy.
Found a low mileage petrol one.... Cracking little motor. Loads of leg room, even more in the rear due to lowered floor panel, wide aperture on front door and very easy to get in and out of...
Ally panels and space frame chassis... Ahead of its time really.
Biggest gripe was using it where we live - sped hump central....
I never thought S2driveruk would turn into a Heretic! What lunacy is this you speak of? The A2 is the nemesis of the S2 you know
My aunt had one, decent cars the handling on motorways was not to my liking however, decent for a city runabout
We have an A2 TDi in the fleet. All alloy, never rust, up to 60mpg. Easy service. Cheap to run. My daily is an A4 Tdi Quattro with 300hp. so We have an S2,S6,B4 16v coupe, and I still get a grin from popping out in the A2. This is a future classic. Every Audi fan should have one.
Ive been looking for a few months, seen 2, .......1 i really wanted and got Screwed by the dealer seller on ebay, the car would have been mine no matter what but i was messed about and the rug pulled beneath my feet!
You really do have to watch what your buying, thats for sure as the FSI cars are very early types of that technology and are problematic, just look at all the internet comments about them. Probably the 1.4 petrol would be the ideal car as little to go wrong but slow and the Diesel is a seriously thrummy noisy car,i drove a new one and didn't like at all.
96 URS6 plus speck saloon
96 URS6 plus speck estate
94 2.6 80 Avant
99 2.8 final edition Cabriolet
yep....and the diesel is a PD (shudders at the thought of my old A6 avant and injector refurb at £600+) which whilst uber fuel efficient always worries me when they go wrong. I think the 1.4 is the way to go, plenty about, I missed out on one with panaramic roof and bose recently which would have been a steal, only issue was the seats which were....not to my taste
